Funniest thing you saw about detailing

He has a video out comparing the HF to the Rupes 15 (detailingaddict).

He makes some good points and demos how the Rupes does not handle curved panels at all, even with the washer mod and light pressure.

Ya, I agree with him for cars with lots of curves. His major point is the price difference. I agree with him somewhat on that. If you are an enthousiast, I agree it's not Worth it. If you are a pro, saving say an hour for every car you do adds up quickly. So the price difference it not that important. Then again, if you are a pro, I see no reason to buy the Dueto. Go with the 21ES and use a GG for the curvy pannels (or a Flex Forced action).

How does the Duetto save an hour on every car vs. The HF?

Especially, when apparently, it is not effective when polishing curves?

I once saw a video of Gary Dean using the HD polisher they came out with, and he said it was loud, and not as good as other DA's, and then a short time later puts out another video, deletes the other one, but this time saying the polisher is good. That was the funniest thing I've seen and since that moment decided never to listen or buy that dudes products.

I think I remember that video. But, IIR - he gave the 3D/Harbor Freight polisher pretty high regards for having a lot of power and working well. I did recall he said it was a bit loud - but it wasn't a deal breaker. I seem to recall him saying he liked it quite a bit. I don't recall him saying it wasn't good as the others. Dunno. Maybe different video??

I think I recall him doing a video like that for the Shurhold polisher though.

I looked at some of his products & I think they are extremely costly. I do have some IUDJ - and it's quite good. But, it's too costly compared to other UWW+ and Pinnacle for me to buy it. But, products can still be good and a bit expensive. Look at AMMO. Maybe that's what is costs to bring a product to market if your a solo operator?

What I really find funny is the 3D polisher. They made it APPEAR as if they were designing this polisher (as if it was their's) and a little while later it shows up at Harbor Freight. I'm not saying the machine is not good, but it was kind of funny how it just faded away from 3D... It would be like if I started seeing jars of Souverän at Walmart and AG just quietly stopped selling it.

Well I can't speak for the Dueto because I never used it, but the 21ES is a LOT more effective than my Meguiar's DA. On curved surfaces it's annoying to use but you can do it. You loose the extra speed for sure though.

It really dépends what you are doing. But yes I would say on average you can very likelly save an hour of work. Or, you can do a better job in the same amount of time (depending how you want to look at it).

Garry seems to do 3 or 4 passes. Maybe I should try that. I always do 6 or 7. That's probably from my use of the Meguiar's DA... that thing is underpowered. Very bad purchase I made... was the only DA I could find locally and did not want to wait 2-3 weeks for GG from AGO... well you waste money and learn ;) Not it has a 3 inch pad on it and does the small areas ;)

Does any of you have the link to the video of that guy doing paint correction with a wax spreader after putting the thing pad down on the dirt? It was posted here about a year ago.

While I did not witness any of these personally, I Googled detailing funnies and came up with these...

Well, there's dumb and then there's this...... It also brings to mind a quote from famous actor John Wayne..

"Life is already hard, but its even harder when you're stupid.”

This is "Mobil Detailing" at its finest! :props:

Hmmmm, depending on their age this might not be enough....

No who the heck left the water on overnight?

I cant remember where I saw the post/picture of a guy using the squeegee at the gas station to clean his entire new Cadillac.

I watched a guy "clean" his fairly new Jeep the other day at the gas station with the window squeegee.

kochdalton87

I can see someone using it to clean bug debris or bird poo but an entire car. People are dumb.

Wasn't there some scary dude blasting a car under his carport with some water polish and a rotary? I want to say there was some steel wool involved. That was kind of funny.
