I was sitting in my car at a club meeting and another kid walks out and gets it, I am like umm , hes responds ---I thought this was my dads car

lol

:laughing:That's funny. A guy I work with has almost the same car as mine. One day I saw him standing next to my car pushing the key FOB furiously, wondering why the car did not unlock. I went over the him and said, did you try the key. He looked at me puzzled, said no, but I just changed the battery, so it should be working. Funnypart was his car was about three spots away and every time he pushed the unlock, the doors to his car unlocked.
These are older Toyota's and they do not have the horn beeps when locked and unlocked.

That is funny and I can easily see how it happens....

It happened to my wife once, she got into an identical car, and the lady who owned it thought she was trying to steal it. Luckily, it's a small town, and once the apology was made, and the cars compared, all was OK.

I actually meant to say gets in. It was even wierder as I did have the car locked and I was inside. I then proceeded to unlock it and the kid gets in and then looks at me and gets out

This happened to my sister Juli!

But then again she didn't think it was fully and was about to be kidnapped...

I remember people actually driving away in the wrong cars. Same car, same color, different owner.

Before technology "enhanced" our lives, my understanding was that GM had a grand total of 729 possible key combinations for ALL of their vehicles.

And, it wasn't uncommon for neighbors to have the same remote frequency on their garage door opener, so that when they pressed the button, your garage door opened and closed.

heard something similar where a car power tailgate blew up a bomb collar, story was on 1000 ways to die

I love it when old people who drive a Prius or some sort of push button start vehicle and they see a regular key and ask, "What's this thing do?" I feel like saying, "It's a regular car key. You know... like what you used 50 years before you bought a Prius."

There was push button start and push button transmission earlier, manufacturers just never thought of adding them again

, when I was younger we did just that. Take all our garage door openers in the car with us and cruse down the street and open garage doors. We did it for fun, never causing any harm. Hell most of the people than left the doors and windows open while they were at work, nobody bother anything.
The good old days... Then again it was not that long ago.

I walked out of best buy one time and got into the wrong car. It was parked 2 spots from mine and same year and color. For a second I fiddled with the key wondering why it wouldn't turn the ignition and then I noticed a bunch of unfamiliar backpacks and stuff and then I began to feel really uncomfortable. My first thought was someone had placed their things in my car. But then I noticed my stereo was gone and in its place was the stock radio. That's when it dawned on me that it wasn't my car. So I quickly got out, made sure nobody saw me and got in my car and left as fast as I could. My car at the time didn't have the key for the door locks (long story) so I never locked it. This person didn't feel it necessary to do so either lol. I bet they would if they'd seen me sitting in their car haha.
