I think she had issues with sewer lines and not septic tank lines. My brother just went from septic to city sewer. Had to pay to tie into the city line and to have all plumbing lines installed. He also had to have the septic tank filled with sand and rendered unusable.

Sorry to hear that, Monica. I hope you guys are home soon. Yes, encasing anything in concrete makes the repair costly. As i remember, there were lots of recreational stimulants back then that may have clouded one's judgement!

Thx gang for the well wishes!

Ok, so homeowners doesn't cover the actual pipe because it's considered "wear and tear". Old age killed it basically. We are responsible for the line till it connects with the townships.

An update:

They FINALLY found the break... looks like it was just under the front porch (of course under concrete). Yesterday they were able to cut out the broken section and temporarily replace it. They still need to replace the line out to the township connection (inspector came out and told them this for code purposes). They also need to finish clearing the line (it was full of sludge and blocked for a good 15 feet back. Then they will reline the entire line so this never happens again.
Once that is all done, the water/sewer crew will come out and clean up the basement :dblthumb2:

Old, sub-par pipe lines. Oh well. At least the rest of the house is in good shape.

So we got to stay in our house lat night! Woohoo! Crazy how being able to use your own toilet is now an awesome thing.

FYI- detail fest 2016 is still on, that is a ways away so no worries.

Even better news.... they re-scoped the line and everything else is solid so the liner isn't needed. That will save us a couple thousand dollars Im the MAN

Shoot, Monica, it keeps better better! I am happy to hear it's progressing better than what could have been worse for you guys.

It could have been a lot worse. Between that and seeing the weather destruction out west I'm counting my blessings.
It will all get fixed here :xyxthumbs:

Sorry Monica, I missed this but I'm glad it's being taken care of now. The saying "there's no place like home" is oh so true here!

Ok those were full of cheese but hey, I'm glad things are working out in your favor. We don't know each other but I wouldn't wish something like this on anyone. Best wishes!

Update:
Soooooo they found a septic tank in our front yard. At one point the house wasn't on public sewer.
And even better, not only did they never clean the line from the septic and, they never even drained it! Township inspector told us it had to be drained and filled with stone... that added another 5k to the bill
And to add insult to injury, the wrong size stone truck showed up and broke our driveway in two spots AND left huge ruts in our lawn.

On the GOOD side.... The line is completely fixed/replaced and we are completely up to code now and functioning.
We still need to have the front lawn repaired and the flower bed put back together, as well as the basement cleaned up, but the house is completely livable.

Glad everything is up to code Monica, sucks about the previous owner for sure😳

The previous owner might not have known.... Must have been the original owner. And they may not have known the sub-par work that was done.
Apparently the same company did many developments in the area and several similar cases have happened.
