When I started detailing a couple years ago I bought a G110v2. My son was using it the second time it got used. It died...the cord problem (that on was from AG, got it replaced wit a PC) My son had to go to Walmart and buy another G110v2 to finish the vehicle. I've used this machine as a back up. Used about 6 or 7 times, always making sure the cord was taken care of in a fashion that wouldn't put any pressure on the cord where it feeds into the machine. So today doing my daughter's car I started to us it with 3" pads...so this is the 7th or 8th use. Guess what...it died. Obviously the cord again the way it died. This one is out of warranty so I guess I get to do the cord replacement. :mad:

Call Fire Department immediately!


How were you able to determine it was the cord by "the way it died"?

Who determined that the cord was at fault on the 1st one? How?

Wiring in my home is fine...wiring in the G110v2 not so much...lol
 
Thinking back...the early editions of the "v2" were plagued with this problem.

Try and do a search, hopefully you can come up with a fix.

Yes they were. These weren't early editions. I've read about the problems and there is a thread on here showing how to repair it. I was really just venting. Shouldn't have to repair a macine after only a few uses. As I mentioned I was aware of the problem and therefore very cautious with the second one.

The fix is toss it in the garbage and buy a Rupes or Flex.

I plan on buying a Flex this spring provided I can still detail after upcoming surgeries. The PC just keeps going and will work for now.
 
Where you using an extension cord with it? If you don't have a proper gauge extension cord it can cause failure with things like the power switch of the polisher or connections (wiring) leading up to the switch.

Just a thought because I learned my lesson after melting the power switch of a table saw solely because of a too-small extension cord. It only took a couple of seconds.

Now, a table saw pulls a whole lot more power than a polisher but the point still remains. Also possible that an extension cord can have a partially severed wire which can have the same result since it can change all the magic electrical voltage/ohms/etc. I don't pretend to understand it, though.

I appreciate the input. I know some people use extension cords the aren't the right gauge. I researched this when I had the problem with the first one and had to buy a second one. This is the problem and step by step repair process.
