I am needing to insulate the garage door at my new house and wasn't sure what to use. My last house had styrofoam and while it worked decently, it left the little white balls everywhere if you brushed up against it.

Obviously looking to keep warmth inside during the winter and keep the heat outside during the summer.

Thanks in advance!

If you have the styrofoam on keep there and cover with Tyvek wrap they also have tape which is very good and will seal the wrap, you buy them at Home Depot, Lowes...

I don't have any insulation currently - that was at my last house.

Could you take a pic of the inside of your door, I’m sure with this community you will get lots of suggestions and you will have the pleasure of picking what you want to do with your door

A picture of your door would definitely help. The insulation on my doors came from Home Depot and really make a difference in the winter. A friend bought this for his doors and then it didn’t fit correctly so he gave it to me. He ended up using styrofoam sheets which he cut to fit his doors.

Check out Lowe's they have a kit for insulating garage doorshttps://m.lowes.com/pd/Owens-Corning-Garage-Door-Insulation-Kit-R-8-66-sq-ft-Single-Faced-Fiberglass-Roll-Insulation-with-Sound-Barrier-22-in-W-x-4-5-ft-L/1243805

I saw the DIY kits, but don't care for how they look - nor would I like to rub up against the fiberglass insulation.

If you cover the fiberglass or the foam with Tyvek you will not touch it and great another barrier for the door

How about that double bubble foil insulation roll. You would get about a R-8 with the cavity. They have rolls that the outer surface is foil on one side and white poly on the other. You could put some fiberglass insulation in the cavity before covering it up with the foil roll to get some better R value. You would foil tape it to the aluminum vertical and horizontal cross members. If you were careful installing it would look pretty good.

I used the white foam that has a backing on it. It was messy while installing it but after a couple weeks I stopped seeing the styrofoam balls everywhere. I don't mind the way it looks, it didn't add much weight to the doors and they keep the garage about 20 degrees cooler in the summer (this is the first winter with the doors done). My doors face west and they would get so hot when the sun hit them in the afternoon that you couldn't touch them.
