garage lights

:iagree: Gotta agree with Harleyguy, they seem fairly expensive. Home Depot and Lowes both should have some things similar at better prices. But the T8's are great for flourescent lighting.

They carry a lighting system just like this at Menards. They seem very expensive compared to other lighting panels. But I must admit they look very cool.

Those look great. If you have the current builders grade lights in your garage (2x60w incandescent bulbs) it will be a huge improvement. Last year I replaced my incandescent light sockets with 3 dual 48" T8 fixtures. the difference was incredible. The type of difference that made me wonder why I waited so long.

I got everything from HD and the cost was less but I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money. You should always consider how much you will be doing vs having done. If your not confident in your wiring ability there would only be one hard wire connection to have an electrician make with this system the rest would be easy plug and play connections. I can see the market for systems like these and how attractive they are to people that aren't necessary DIYer's with regard to electrical wiring.

Looks like a quality setup and probably worth every penny.

WOW you can catch a tan in the garage with those things! I'm looking for some good affordable lighting as well...

I put the track lighting from the basement out in the garage. Don't need a heater out there now.

Even if you want to improve on incandescent bulb fixtures, just replace them with CFL's. You can get higher output versions and run them safely plus once they warm up completely they can get extremely bright.

I run T8's on the wall end to end....only thing I don't like is the light is kinda yellow. They do give off alot of light

I went with 2 8' HO fluorescent fixtures in my 2 car garage. 440 watts of light makes it look like noon in July!

They certainly look cool but as others have said, you should be able to find a number of less expensive options.

My wife wanted low voltage halogen track lights in "her" garage which gives a nice white light. I will make a few changes in the next garage design but the garage does look nice.

Couple of questions to consider for lighting:
1) What kind of light do you need in the garage
2) How much light will you need?
3) What color light do you want?
4) Will these be your primary work lights?
5) Will you install the lights or will someone else do the install?

Even with good light, I just bought a dual light 1000W halogen work light for spot detail light. Awesome garage heating system for the winter as well. Best $39 spent in a while!

If you don't mind building your own fulham workhorse ballasts are usually used in High Output lighting fixtures. If you buy them and wire them yourself it will save a fortune. I used them often when I would make my own lighting for aquariums. Plus you can get great lighting options for daylight corrected bulbs. If you buy the bulbs on ebay they can be pretty cheap for 96w bulbs. If you buy them right!
