Garage Makeover Phase I.

those units are pretty cool (no pun intended). a word of caution on them though. if youre dealing with any noxious chemicals in the man cave, you may want to keep a couple of doors open to allow for fresh air cross ventilation. also, filtering on those kinds of units is not that good. the filters tend to be that washable, 1/8" thick stuff that needs a lot of attention because they clog really quick.

Dad!!!!! I didn't see this posted here :shakehead: As you know I am very excited about your garage!!! And it has nothing to do about it being left to me in your will :o I can't wait to hear your tales of vehicle correction and Opticoating triumph on the caravan of vehicles you've been turning over lately! Most certainly your adventures will be twice as pleasurable now that you can control the weather!!

This is great advice. Thank you very much! The filters are small and washable as you thought!
 
Jim, I forgot mention something about the flooring....assuming its not down yet. Put down some cheap landscape fabric on the slab first. This eliminates any clicking or noise as you walk on the floor. If you have already laid the tiles, pull them all up and start over :)

Thanks son! You will need a big truck to pack up your inheritance! I have got five Opti Guard with correction jobs waiting for the garage to complete. One is my brother, so that one is a freebie. Climate control is number one for your old dad!

Great advice Ed! I just got them today! I will do that and let Corey know too! He has ordered some too! How many plys of landscaping cloth should I lay down?
 
I forget the thickness I used but it wasn't anything real thick. I headed down to Lowes and grabbed a few rolls of the mid priced. I used masking tape to hold the edges and seams. Of course I learned of this trick after the fact and re-layed the floor. A night and day difference in sound deadening. A rubber mallet will come in handy also to tap the tiles down.

I read about this on the forum I was doing my research on. My concern is it will trap moisture since it is designed to do just that. What do you think?

I haven't had a problem with moisture trapping with the fabric but then again, I am not hose washing cars in there. The fabric is designed to let water flow through and the rest should evaporate or drain naturally with the slab slope. Don't get the shiny plastic type weed blocker stuff. That will indeed trap the water. You want the felt looking stuff that is really porous.

Mrs. OT, the photographer, promises to post pics Saturday. The floor is down. A few cabinets I got on Amazon should be in too. I got a 24x24 in yesterday. The build quality is amazing! Super heavy duty.

Mr. OT. Do you have links to some of these "supposed" cabinets. I've been looking for 1 or 2. PM me if you'd like. And I think this weekend is too far away to be waiting for pictures. Needs to happen nowish! Im the MAN

I'm interested to see the cabinets as well.

I have a small Gladiator cabinet that holds some stuff but I need something bigger.
