I'm looking for some tall 2 door cabinets for garage storage. I don't want to spend a fortune but want something that is of decent quality and sturdy. I see that Sears sells a decent selection of cabinets by companies like Gladiator, Suncast, Snap-On etc., but don't have the tall 2-door cabinets on display. Anyone buy any of those brand-name cabinets and can comment on their quality?

The Sears near me has them on display and they look pretty good in quality and appearance . Also check Lowes , the carry Gladiator brand and are real good .

The Lowes near me did not have any Gladiator cabinets, I'll have to check online. So which ones at Sears did you like, just the Gladiator?

Thanks

i was gonna buy the ones from sears too but bought some open shelving since i figured grabbing the product needed quickly was more important.

Seriously considering the Coleman TD2 cabinets I saw at Lowe's tonight. They are particle board, covered with a laminate type material. The display seemed pretty sturdy and they look good. They are much cheaper than the gladiator and have a 10 yr warranty. I do like the gladiator but don't know if I want to spend $50-100 more per cabinet for metal.

my dad has gladiator and i have the gray sears cabinets (6). I like the sears better for detailing supplies and price.

Think seriously about those cabinets . I have used that type in the past and have a pair up right now . After time they tend to settle and sag . These I have are coming down soon when I remodel inside my shop . If they ever get wet or damp they start to come apart or seperate . I do understand about the extra money for the others as I have been there before but if fyou can get the better ones and only have to buy once instead of having to replace later .

Try Durham Manufacturing, using some of their storage cabinets(industrial) and are unbelievable. Not sure on the price difference but those will last you a very long time.

I was lucky enough to pick up some school lockers at a flea market. You might try a surplus salvage store or school for some if you think they would work for you.

visit HD, Lowes, and Sears and look for a store unit on sale as display. They usually save a couple $$ and are going to be in the garage if a small dent or scrape is found.

I just picked up a steel cabinet at Sam's Club. Same size as the Gladiator large Gearbox (36wx72H). Bought it for $180, compared to $290 for the Gladiator. All steel, even shelves w/locking door.

I've found the Rubbermaid cabinets to be the best. I have 2 of the full double door cabinets and 2 of the base cabinets. After 5 years in a hot garage, no sags. The doors can be removed if you need easy access to the shelves.
