I wish to paint the inside of my garage before winter. And install some nice cabinets. What color would you recommend. Right now it is an off white color. Should I go with exterior or interior paint? I live in Pittsburgh PA so we do have alot of temp variations especially during the winter. Thanks.

I would use an off white paint. I would suggest an exterior latex with a semigloss finish as if any dirt get on it you can just wipe with a wet rag to clean plus it will reflect the light.

Is your garage insulated or no? Exterior paint would hold up good for durability. A good interior will as well though too. I painted my garage flat white and I hate it lol. I'm planning to repaint it sometime in the near future but it probably won't happen before winter. I will probably do mine in a really light gray and also paint my ceiling flat white. My doors and the little bit of trims in my garage are all white so the gray will look good on mine.

Depends on what you do in your garage besides store things. I have a workshop on one side of a large detached garage. 15 foot high ceiling, loft around the perimiter. All walls are sheetrocked and taped. I masked and covered to paint three different colors. I used interior semi gloss paint because I needed to be able to clean the walls easily. I use saws and grinders, and other things that create bad dust sometimes.

I only use Benjamin Moore paint. The paint from the box hardware stores is very poor quality in comparison. You get what you pay for. Benjamin Moore makes paint that is easy to apply, has few problems with drips, runs, holidays and marks, and it is extremely durable. For the sink area I used gloss Impervo oil based. Impervious to just about anything.

I painted my insulated garage with an interior bath and kitchen paint in a very light grey color, called silver trophy. I like the color and by using the bath and kitchen paint it resists mould and is easy to wipe any dirt off.

Lots of good ideas, suggestions, and pictures over there.

I did exterior semi-gloss. Use a very light color so you can get some reflection off the walls from lighting.

I used a semi-gloss bright white. 2 coats and used just shy of 9 gallons (just a tad larger than a 2 car garage). Also have 5 8' double florescent fixtures...great light reflection.

I agree with many of the posts above. Light reflection is key.
