If you get gasoline on your hands, there's not much you can do besides wash with a hand soap designed for industrial use (like Gojo) and wait for the smell to fade.

i keep a huge pump bottle of gojo citrus under the sink and that works pretty well for anything like that.

don't do anything drastic...like cut them off or something.

That's what I do. I wash with a citrus hand cleaner (Dojo or similar, the kind that has some grit in it) out in the garage, and then wash my hands again in the house with regular soap (mainly to get the scent of the hand cleaner off. lol) and that usually does the trick for me.

You have any iron x lying around?

Stripper scent should work too but it's only gonna mask the smell for like a day.

Is this something that has just manifested itself?
If not: What have you used (if anything) in the past?

For me...I've found that:
By holding my clutching-appendages over a robust fire/flame---sparks, if you will---any and all remnants of gasoline smells are eradicated! :D

In the back of my mind...
I might have been thinking about how that guy in that one "detailing video" was rubbing Meguiar's D140 all over his hands...and how that: Hot Stuff...would probably "kill"...
gas smells. :D
