What wattage generators are you guys running? Theres some on clearance around here for a good deal (basically half price of any other ones I'm looking at) but its only a 1300 watt generator which I fear isn't going to be powerful enough.

I have a gas pressure washer so I don't need to worry about that, I pretty much need it to run my vacuum, carpet cleaner and my 7424 XP. I would also like to move up to a more powerful DA in the future, I would only be running 1 power tool at a time off of it, but definitely would appreciate any input as to whether its going to be powerful enough or not.

Thanks guys!

I use Honda EU2000i 1600 watts.

I wouldn't foresee any issues with 1300 watts if you'll only be running one tool at a time.

I've heard only positive things about this generator. They can be a little pricey though.

Thats good to hear, in that case tomorrow I will be pretty much fully equipped, only other thing I would like to add at some point is a water tank.

Thanks

We run an 8000 watt Predator generator from Harbor Freight. It runs everything we need... at the same time.

If you can, find out how many Watts your carpet cleaner draws. That will probably be the highest one if it has heater also.

I wish Lol, doubt it would fit in my mobile van though. ;)

Carpet cleaner is the one I'm worried about, I'll try to find out what it needs but I think it should be enough. When I upgrade a few things I'll probably upgrade the generator again as well. Would live a eu2000 but they're pretty pricey.

Yep, that Honda one is one my wish list. Maybe next year I'll get one. Right now I'm using my in laws 4000W. It's a bit cumbersome for me to move around myself, although my 8mo pregnant wife did pull it out of the car herself when I was not home. Not sure how she did it, but she did.

I love mine.

Check CraigsList for lightly used ones, they do pop up every once in a while. I bought mine a few years ago for $700 and would buy it again at full price in a heartbeat. It's absolutely worth it for a really high quality inverter generator.

Honda generators are the best made and the quietest. The 2000 may run most anything but the 3000 is a bigger heavier unit and electric start. You would need to mount that with ventilation. You get what you pay for with generators (as most things)

I'm hoping this guy calls me back about this one. http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/grd/5228403624.html

I looked it up and it seems to have decent reviews, should run all my stuff no problem. I'm hoping I can mount it in a way that the exhaust points out the sliding door in my van and if I leave the doors and windows open that it would provide enough ventilation.

Picked up that generator this morning, it's a good size, pretty much between the suitcase style like the eu2000 and a full size generator of this style, not too loud but not as quiet as the honda and it will run everything i throw at it. Definitely can't complain for $200, when and if this one craps out on me I should be in a position to replace it with the eu2000 but I'm hoping that's not going to be for a long time.

Yamaha EF4500ISE EF4500iSE - 4000 Watt Electric Start Inverter Generator

I use this one, it's a super quiet 4500 watt quiet Yamaha. I love it. I can run multiple heavy power consuming electrical equipment off it at once, like my big shop vac and 20 gallon compressor, etc. I keep it in my Chevrolet Express work van, but I've considered getting a hitch thing on the back of my van to keep it mounted and save cabin space.

I've owned countless generators over the years. In my experience the Honda EU series was the best. I found out the hard way it's better to spend the money on one good tool than 3 crap ones. Also have used the Yamaha ones as well and they are a close second.

Champion 3100
It's quiet, sips gas and does a pretty good job of running my equipment.
Carpet extractor and steamer both work together on it 90% of the time. It can't handle when both heaters cycle on at the same time.
Can't heat up my carpet extractor while running the master blaster.
I've learned its downfalls and work around them until I can upgrade.

I bought the Homelite Skinit inverter generator from HD. 2000 starting watts and 1700 running watts. I tested it with a 1400 watt steamer, my GG DA on speeds 1-6 and my Rigid shop vac with blower. No problems. It's quiet, built well, has great reviews and I got it for less than $400. Lastly, the free Skinit kit allows you to customize the look. I went with the local NFL team in case I sell it to a tailgater. FYI.

I have knock-off of the Honda generator and it's pretty good for the price point

Although if possible, I'd rather save up and get the Honda! It's super compact, strong, and isn't that loud :D
