Hi cheffery

If you don't mind me asking...

1. How old are you?

2. Before purchasing your Griot's Garage DA Polisher, had you ever machine buffed before?

Thanks ahead of time...

Hey mike I'm 21 and I have never machine buffed before. I read a lot about it and watched a ton of videos tho

Your car finished down beautifully. An excellent result!

And the camera phone takes good pics when held steady too.

I agree, this is an awesome inspiration for many, self included. :)

So, I have been holding of on a flex, but after seeing your pictures I think I will be ordering a GG6 tomorrow. Went to Walmart today and saw they had the ultimate compound for 5.99 and the ultimate polish for 6.49 so bought them. So next steps.

Will order the GG6, but a few questions.

I see you used the orange pad for the compound, what speeds did you use? Also on the grey pad for the polish? How many pads do you think I may need to do two vehicles? 2010 Pilot black and 2011 CRV maroon?

Did you happen to use the 5.5" or 6.5" pads?

Also, what do people recommend to get light scratches out of clear coated aluminum rims?

okay, I know, asking way to many questions, but can say I am ready to take this on as well with zero experience, unless you count reading these valuable threads, then I would be a trooper.

thanks for your help in advance! :xyxthumbs:

I used speed 6 for the orange pad with the ultimate compound, and speed 4 for polishing with gray pad. I also used the 5.5" backing plate along with 5.5" pads. I have no experience with the 6.5" pads but from what i could gather on the forums the 5.5" are the way to go.

I would also recommend reading through all the great info that mike phillips provided in my other thread as it helped clear up a ton of stuff for me and gave me a better understanding.

also, do a test spot first, i can't stress that enough. That way you find out what combination works best for the condition of your paint. you might want to pick up some swirlX and grab some white pads too, that way you have something just in between of the ultimate compound and ultimate polish.

Thanks again and good luck with your griots, it is really a great machine

Will order some white pads / swirl X as well. thank you for the information.
