FYI to those who wants a Griot's Garage 6 inch - they're on closeout for $85 on Tire Rack. The picture looks like the new version but I can't believe it - must be V2 with the wrong picture. A few other Griot's products dirt cheap too. Just wanted to pass the word and help save some one a few $.
 
Is this machine more like a pc, or flex

Zach, its like a pc only more powerfull. Really good machine IMHO.

I also own one and really love it. And for that price I may own another.
 
With $10 shipping it is close to what you'd pay from advanced auto after coupon codes

How can i find out if its the new version or not? Are they allowed to misinform buyers by placing the wrong picture?
 
If u r unsure just get AG to price match it or order from Advanced Auto.. With coupon and free shipping its $99!!!!
 
And will AG price match it? Do i email them before purchasing?

And nvm i seen the coupon that brings it to 100
 
Remember, the Griot's comes with a 6" backing plate. If you want to use 5.5" pads with it for optimum efficiency, you'll still need to get the right backing plate and pads.


5 inch Backing Plates on Meguiar's, Griot's and Porter Cable DA Polishers


Here's some pictures showing the size of different backing plates on the popular Meguiar's Griot's and Porter Cable DA Polishers.

The Griot's and Meguiar's DA Polishers come with 6" backing plates and the Porter Cable by itself does not come with a backing plate.

If you want to use 5.5" foam pads on any of these tools you'll need to remember to order a separate backing plate when your order your polishers.

See the little rubber cap?
It holds the compression washer on the threaded stud and also protects the threads when the backing plate is not in use. Do not loose it and if you do you can simply wrap some tape around the threads while backing plate is in storage.

Meguiar's G110v2 comes with the W68DA Backing plate, it's too large to safely use with a 5.5" foam buffing pad.

The one good thing that Autogeek offers that Tire Rack and other retail stores don't offer is a discussion forum like this one where you can get real help for your car detailing projects.

I'm not even sure if Tire Rack has a forum for detailing?

Oh man, now I feel guilty – my apologies Mike. I love the forum Autogeek provides and I purchase everything from you guys only after carefully reviewing the pros & cons provided here. I have a 2nd gen GG6” and only wanted to help other newbie’s save a few $ on their start up cost. I’ve learned a ton from everyone on here – you the most!!
