GG 6inch buffer?

I'm about to purchase a GG 6inch my questions is can any size back plate work say a 3 or 3.5 inch back plate will it work on a GG 6 buffer? Also what pads would you recommend I was going to order a 5 inch back plate and 5.5 pads ccs pads or should I get 5.5 (flat pads) suggestions and reviews on pads and back plating. Much appreciated
 
Any of the DA backing plates will work on the GG6. I use mine with a 5" and a 3.5" and many also use a 3" with the full sized unit. My personal preference is to use flat pads for the maximum corrective ability--also, I've read a few posts on various forms that the dimpled pads don't work as well with some products.
 
Hydro-tech pads 5.5 inch work well with this machine and a 5 inch backing plate.

With theses hydro pads it would be best to use liquid cleaners such as Meg's line of products and pinnacle and wolf gang? What pad would be best to buy for using a paste wax?
 
Just wanted to add I love my GG6 ver. 3
GG service is top notch too...

The only thing that I don't get y come out with. 3 GG if you can buy a 3 inch back plate for the 6 GG but I'm excited to purchases the GG 6

+1 nice pads. The GGv3 is a very good polisher and as already suggested versitile with backing plates and pads.

If uncertian about pads ordeer a vew different brnds and see what works for you. Anything goes for waxing as long as it's a soft pad for the job. Your time will be spent polishing vs waxing.
 
Yup. Mine just arrived Tuesday. I also ordered a 3" LC backing plate and some pads. Haven't tried them out yet but I did put the small plate on to test fit the plate with pads.
