GG Pro 3 damaged

I haven't been here in a long time, but I'm hoping to get some info. While I eon't remember doing it, i apparently dropped my GG Pro 3" polisher and bent the counter weight (I think that's what it's called). I'm just wondering if it is replaceable of if I have to replace the entire unit. You can see where it's touching the housing on the upper left side. I found this out when I was getting ready to use it and noticed it starting to smoke.

Hopefully someone knows where I can get this part at.

Well, I'm not sure if you "bent" the counterweight, but any parts or a replacement should be covered by the Griot's lifetime warranty on that unit, so contact them directly.

That isn't what he said. He said he doesn't remember dropping it but he must have because the counterweight is bent (actually a piece of the counterweight is missing). So what makes you think that piece of the counterweight didn't just break off due to a manufacturing defect, causing the out-of-balance situation which caused it to rub the housing and overheat it?

I surely don't know what happened, but if it were me I would be making a warranty claim. I mean the guy didn't say he used it as a hammer and then this happened.

To one and all - thank you for all the comments, and the reminder of the warranty that they (GG) have. I searched their website and (finally) found a contact email address for them. I sent them a copy of the photo. Until it had been mentioned in here, I did not even know that a piece was missing. As I told GG, I never had the occasion to remove the backing plate before and, when I saw it the first time, I thought it was made that way. All that I had noticed was the way it was bent and rubbing against the housing and smoking.

I also had to praise the quality of the unit. When I started to use it, the vibration felt the same as it always did - nothing felt off balance or excessive.

Once I get a reply from them, I'll post it here of all to see.

Thanks again for y'all's help.

BTW - I was going to use it to remove some paint transfer from my wife's car - ended up using my Flex 3401 for the job. did a real good job of it to. Just wish I had thought to get a before photo of it, LOL.
