Hi,

I'm new to polishng and I really don't know what to buy!
'm buying this machine and send it to Argentina. Here machines are really expensive...
First I want to use the polisher for me and my family and friends cards, but i'm looking forward to open a detail buissiness!
What do you recommend? This is going to be my first experience with a polisher. Are flex or Rupes dangerous to paint in inexpert hands?
Should I go for de GG?

Thanks for your help! I'm looking forward to take advantage of the 15% discount! so i have 24hs to decide!

Hello! My first machine I bought was the porter cable. While I did like it I found it was not working fast enough for me. So I then went to the Flex and have loved it! No need to worry about damaging the paint with it either.

I have no used the rupes yet but have heard nothing but good reviews on it. I am sure someone will chime in who has used the rupes and flex

The GG or Rupes is more of a beginner friendly option. The FLEX requires a certain technique to not have it walk on you. Much like rotary.

That's like comparing apples to oranges. I agree that the Flex DA requires some technique, but the learning curve between that and a rotary is night and day.

I would have to disagree with the "learning curve" on the Flex. I'm new to paint correction and I successfully did it on my first try with no problems at all. As a matter of fact I like it much better than the Griots.

To the OP. I've tried the Flex and Griots and its recommend the Flex by far of the two. Ill be trying the Rupes soon though.

I agree, Ron. You can get much better results with the 3401 from a beginner. A rotary is a whole different ball game for sure!

Harbor Freight DA Polisher going for $41 with the 25% coupon. Order your backing plate, pads, products and you're set.

Not sure if they'd ship to Argentina.

I started as a hobbyist with a rotary. There was a learning curve but in my opinion not as difficult or as terrifying as some people would like to present it.

The power of such tool requires attention and respect but unless you do something really stupid or careless you will be having some really good results in no time.

I have a Flex Rotary PE 14-2 and the quality of the tool is really amazing.

In your case I would suggest the Flex 3401 cause the learning curve would not be difficult. Make sure that you get the smaller backing plate to be able to work with 4" pads as well as your standard backing plate and 5.5 " pads. Don't go any higher that 5.5" pads while you are learning. It will make your life easier.

The Flex is a great tool and many members here swear by it and have chosen the 3401 as the polisher that they would like to have if they could only have one tool that can do it all.

Good luck and welcome to Autogeekonline.

Theo.

I would probably start off with the GG6 and then when that's not enough step up to a rupes or flex. After a couple years of having my pc, new models came out that outperformed my pc. So I just upgraded to the rupes.
Sure you could learn on a rupes or flex, but you might wanna grab a few junkyard panels to practice.

IMO everyone should own at least one traditional style DA (PC, GG6, G110v2, etc). it's versatile as you can use it with different size pads and with carpet brush attachments. these days with the evolving products (microfiber pads, chemicals, etc) with the DA, there isn't really much you shouldn't be able to tackle that comes your way. i personally wouldn't be without one and that would be my first choice...

Thnaks for your help guys!

OK, so I'll go with the GG6 or PC first (I think GG because I read it has more power).
I know this sequence (GG and then FLEX/Rupes) seems logical.

The problem is that I live in Argentina, and I can buy it on AG now, but I don't know if I'll be able in the next Month/year (due to exchange restrictions in our economy...)

So I'll get the GG and wish I can buy the Flex then....

I'm only affraid I'll get the GG and won't be able to buy the Flex then...

Yes, my concern about the flex is that since as I'm newbie to polishing, I don't want to burn or damage the paint sistem...

I'm sure you will find a way to get the FLEX or Rupes later on.

I'd go for the GG personally.
