GG6 DA newbie

Hello, new to forum and GG6 it came with a red and orange pads, and some M 205, could someone school me on pads and polish I need for a white and black vehicle, do you remove wax with buffer or by hand? Do I need to use sealant when done waxing? I've always waxed cars by hand, my first rodeo with a DA, Thanks

Welcome to the forum. You're gonna love the GG6...plenty of power backed by Griots warranty. Product/pad combos would be best decided upon after you assess your paint, and decide if it needs decontamination, correction, etc. There are tons and tons of product choices out there, and I'm sure some of the gurus here will chime in and be more help to you than I can.

You can use any polish on white or black paint. So find yourself a good product to use. There is a lot to choose from on Autogeek. I posted Mike's article up above with the Griot's polishes. The Meguiar's ultimate line is always a nice place to start as well.

Do I need to use sealant when done waxing?

Take your pick on which you want to use. If you are looking for longer term protection that a sealant would be the way to go.

That orange pad is great for what's referred to as "one step polishing". This is where only one sequence of polishing is done, followed by some sort of protection.

If you find that you need more cut, then maybe get some Ultimate Compound, or M100 Pro Speed Compound.

Pick up some Griots Boss Correcting Cream, just in case the swirls on your vehicles are a bit more on the moderate side. Then follow it up with the polishing pads and M205.

If you choose to use both, it's sealant 1st [allow to cure] then wax.

Wolfgang Twins (Total Swirl Remover & Finishing Glaze) with Lake Country orange & white pads respectively (either 'standard' flat foam pads or ThinPros) are kinda a nice starting place. Can mix/match the liquids with the pads and/or do just one step with either depending on paint condition and level of finish desired. Deeper defects will require more aggressive compounds/pads than above but I'd guess they'd be able to handle 75% of average needs. Could also use your existing M205 in place of WG Finishing Glaze. The Wolfgang stuff is pretty user friendly.


For a sealant WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant is nice or if'n ya want a more traditional wax Collinite 915 is nice and plenty durable as well. Maybe a LC black or blue pad for sealant/wax application would be helpful for quick, even, thin application

Just pick up the complete boss syatem and atleast 4 pads of each color...except black pad, just get two
And from there you should have everything covered.
Can always experiment with other brands down the line

Yes, 5 inch backing plate and 5.5 inch pads would be best.
