Will visit my high school buddy end of month at his new house. He's doing the family & work thing to his eyeballs, so I will detail his Expo for him and leave some gifts when I leave. His idea of maintenance is bribing the mechanic for an inspection sticker and driving through a tunnel twice a year, so I am leery of giving him products he'll misuse. Still, I hope to "turn him on" to our affliction with savory, easily used bottles of yum. Aside from some good MFs any suggestions? Remember, hi is blissfully unaware of detailing.

Aquawax and a ShMitt, GritGuard and Guzzler...how much do you wana spend?

Keep it to cleaning stuff and QDer, thats pretty safe stuff (just tell him not QD first then wash etc if hes that novice...lol)

Over the years I have given several at work Wolfgang and Pinnacle kits. Each one has become a dedicated user, and best of all its usually all in one box. Even the older "forum favorite kit" was a great gift to excite people about boutique products.

Think of this ...even if they pay a professional detailer, they can ask them to use their own products. Sometimes a win-win as detailer gets to try a product he might never have otherwise.

:iagree: with killr, any of the top name kits that are already put together would be great, especially since they come in one nice box, perfect for a gift to someone. Add the poorboy's kit into that equation.

Either that or a duragloss kit, I think duragloss stuff would be really good for a beginner, its all easy to use and it could get them hooked on detailing. AG still needs to come up with a DG kit IMO, im guessing they havent done it because duragloss stuff is already priced so well that any discount they offer in a kit could put them out of business lol. Same with DP stuff probably, both excellent product lines and even better prices

if you wanted to piece something togethor, I would say...

Wash mitt of your choice
MFs of your choice
Guzzler
DG 901
DG 105
DG 921
A few applicators

depending on how far you wanted to go and how much you wanted to spend, you could add trim/tire dressing, wheel cleaner, glass cleaner, APC, etc...

He might be more likely to actually use a quick detailer, like DP's.

Thanks. I liked the Forum Favorite Kit, myself and likely will order the SSII Kit soon. The DG line is a very good suggestion; I'll look at some DP items, too. Will focus on exterior only for now and never thought about kits, just wanted to leave him a box of stuff he'll probably try when he wants alone time that will get him a Wow reaction after using. He once used an entire bottle of my CM on his truck after washing thinking it was wax. The Souveran was right next to it, but he was too lazy to try it. His Explorer was the last year they were available with a manual transmission, and I want to see him keep it a while. Plan on using much polish there.

so far: Ultimate Guzzler & assorted MF towels, a chenille wash mitt or Schmitt, foam applicator pads, OTC wheel & tire dressing. What wash and cleaner do you all recommend? Liquid Souveran or 360 or SSII?

Good thread. A friend of mine recently bought a new Toyota Camary Hybrid. Her previous car was a Lexus she drove for 10 or 12 years. I put together a small kit for her to wash her car because she wanted to wash it herself after seeing how clean I keep my car.

I wish AG would put together a beginner kit with some things to get people started. I noticed that Duragloss offers such a kit. But of course I want to see AG do such a kit. I think it would be a great intro to a lot of newbies. I know I would have been interested when I started.
