Hey guys, I purchased and Audi a5 a month ago and would really like to set the tone to take good care of the paint.

Any ideas on what's best for this white car?

I saw a picture of a white car that had Liquid souveran over wolfgang deep sealant and looked great. Buddy said I should just go with some opti seal to keep it simple.

Your input is much appreciated.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and coat the car. It will keep your paint perfect. Wax and sealants only do so much. The new age of car care has begun and its all about coatings. Opti-coat, 22ple, Cquartz are all good choices.

Agreed. Coat it from the get go. This way you have a few years of protection rather than a few months depending on product.

Unless you like to play with different products. Then don't.
 
A coating will certainly reduce the amount of detailing maintenance (and cost) over the life of the vehicle.

Audi paint is hard as hell though so venturing into wax/sealants is not off-the-wall if you are ready to invest the time. And white paint can hide a lot of defects before it begins to show.

At the end of the day it boils down to your preferences and overall approach to maintain the vehicle over it's useful life while in your driveway.
 
I have a Audi Q5 I bought new in 2012. I just polished it with a light Menzerma polish to remove a few very light places then topped it off with Blackfire sealant. I really like Blackfire.
 
If you are looking for the best protection, as mentioned a coating is definitely the way to go.

My opinion is that whilst any LSP will in theory slightly alter the overall look of the car, it is not worth breaking your head over selecting wax a over wax b based solely on looks, for a daily driver

To my mind good looking paint is 95% prep work and 5% LSP....

Here are 3 white Audi's I have done, all of which had Collinite 845 as the LSP and one was then topped with Pete's 53.... I bet most people would struggle to tell which one was topped with the Pete's and would be happy with the look of any of them.

The bulk of the cars I detail are people's daily drives and my advice is therefore to prep the paint properly - wash/decon/polish - and spend your time on this aspect of the detail, and then seal it with your choice of LSP (coating>sealant>wax)
