I'm trying to correct my wife's black Caddy SRX. I have menz IP and FF. I used the IP on orange and it helped, but didnt correct some of the moderate swirles, only the fine ones. So looks like I'll have to go over it several times or step up my compound.

What's your usual go to for black GM paint?

M105 M205 have work great for me!

I'm glad you mentioned those two as u can find them locally. The results certainly speak volumes. May I ask what pads and process you used? I currently have orange, white and black. If you have a link to a write up that'd be great too!

I hear you on the orange peel. The amount on a few parts of he'd car are criminal.

I used my G110v2 with a yellow polishing pad did about 6-8 section passes with M105. Speed setting 5.

Just be sure you do a test spot but M105 certainly is a killer compound.

Thank you for the advice. I hope I can get results close to what you accomplished.

If I ever get it done I'll try to post results. Could be a while, I get to do about a panel a week with work and my honey do list. Lol

Good luck just do a test spot first to dial in your process!

GM black paint always seems to be hard. I also use either M105 or M100 and typically combine it with the black TB wool pad + Flex 3410. It will correct all the nasties (most of the time) and is easy to use. Here is a job I did with that as a reference. I've also got a red CTS coming next weekend that I expect to be some work.

On GM cars I use Chemical Guys black MF pads with Ultimate Compound , great results but still have to make several passes.
You may also tey a yellow pad with either 105 or UC.

Good luck

I've tried everything. D300 105 fg400. Mix with meg mf pads. Rupes pads.??? Yes slow passes/small sections.. Can get the swirls but single scratches all over.

Thanks for the advise Richy. I picked up 105/205 on my way home from work today based on Evan and your advice. I'm going to try it out as soon as I get some free time again.

I remember reading your post on that car a couple times. Outstanding work. It definately gives me a benchmark to work towards. I can't wait to see the CTS you have lined up completed.

Have you given this a go yet??

Adding my two pennies here with everyone elses :P

But on GM paints:

M105 - Yellow pad (1 cycle)
M205 - Orange pad (2 cycles)
Menzerna Final Finish - Orange pad (2 cycles)
Wolfgang 3.0 Sealant - Black pad (1-2 cycles)
Any wax you desire afterwards!

Just speaking from experience with a few black vehicles by GM. This also worked on a 2010 Ford Mustang and an 09 CLS 550. All were in horrible shape...
