Going from DA to rotary. Any safe approach ?

Tip- tape or cover everything that you don't want any product to end up on. Rotary's tend to sling product everywhere unlike the DA. I definitely learned to tape the door jams after using a rotary. I just got to use a Cyclo DA and hope I never have to use a rotary again. haha!

6" is usually easier to handle especially just starting. I have both 8 and 6 but I prefer the 6 unless I am doing a hood,RV etc., something large.

But do you stop to change pads only to do hoods ?

What about pad type ? Flat or those textured foam like this one ?
3M Perfect-It Plus Foam Polishing Pad 8 inches, car polishing pad, buffing pad

Does this type of foam helps to keep splatter an heat in check with a rotary ?

I usually tape trims, moldings and unpainted plastics even though I only use a DA right now... but I've never covered windshields or places where the machine won't touch..... maybe this is some extra work with a rotary....

This thread is very informative and I for one appreciate all the info in it.

Guys I've just found an old and well know video sequence, posted by Mike Phillips when he was over Megs.

There are some valuable tips on rotary on these videos...

....

Not all the time, depends on my mood. I use Edge pads that have the quick release so changing pads is only a couple of seconds.
