Going nuts, need to find some good MF towels that don't lint!!

Another vote for CG monster blues. Their new hybrid cotton/MF towels are the best of both worlds.

That's exactly what it sounds like Dave. Been using high heat to wash and dry for years.

One thing that I do before tossing MF towels in the dryer is to run the dryer for a few minutes with nothing in it to allow the lint trap to grab up any excess lint that is in there from the last load of clothes. I always see some lint in the trap after doing this. That's lint that's not in my towels in the end.

I've been using high heat since I started detailing and never had the melting problem that someone mentioned. Has anyone ever really experienced this or is it just a theory that someone posted and people are repeating?

Are you kidding?

So this is just one source, and it happens to be AutoGeek. This is from their Microfiber care page;

"Wash your microfiber in the washing machine with detergent only. Tumble them dry on low heat or no heat. High heat will literally melt the fibers while fabric softener and bleach will eliminate the electric charge that makes microfiber so effective. Avoid those three laundry habits, and your microfiber will last indefinitely."

So its not a dream, most places you look this is listed for caring for Microfibers. The very first place I heard this was from a friend who restores old cars, he told me " Microfiber towels exposed to heat are then grease rags".

Here is another source, read item one at the top of the page in bold print!
How to Wash Microfiber - Microfiber Care Instructions - Commercial Microfiber Wash Instruction

70% to 80% of a microfiber towel is polyester, apply heat to Polyester and see what happens!

So as you can see I didn't just pull this out of my a#* then post it here. :dunno::bolt:

Did anyone say that you pulled this out of your ass? If I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.

Pretty much sounds like you were sayin I pulled it out of my A#% to me? As I was the one who posted it!:dunno:

So drying on high heat will melt the mf and cause scratching? :wow::laughing: Have you actually dried on high and have the fibers melt? FYI this subject has been going on for years and yet to see anyone post a melted mf.
Also will melt the micro fibers and cause scratching:nomore:

I melted my cobra guzzler, but that was on the leaf blower engine. I was surprised how hard the melted part was. It could probably break skin if you tried.

these are the same ones cg sells but alot cheaper. i bought 2 dozen and never had any problems. :dblthumb2:

Wow that is a pretty sweet deal. Yea it does appear that it might be from the same manufacturer that cg sources.

If you feel safer by air drying or drying on low heat by all means do that. But to say that drying on high heat will melt the micro fibers and cause scratching is bs.

It may not melt like you would see after holding a heat gun to them, but it may alter the strands enough that they lose some of their softness and can increase the chance they will scratch.

I think it is time to bust out the ole electron microscope and some test panels and settle this for once and all :)Im the MAN

It doesnt matter, you aren't supposed to dry or wash on high heat or hot anyways. Microfiber technology dislikes heat. You want low heat and low setting tumble dry.

I didn't mean to start another storm here on this forum or accuse anyone of pulling bad info out of their "you know what", just never saw any proof behind the high heat thing is all.

Guess you know more about Microfiber than the people who manufacture them ..... Sure wish I was as smart as you!

I showed fact to back up my statements, why don't you show something that backs up your proven wrong opinion? Or should I say bs?

It could be said that of all the brands of dryers that some do get more hotter than another . some only have reg and no heat , some have a med and low . make sure u just don't over dry . that is prob where the melting is coming from . best to figure out the time setting for your dryer. good luck . I'll keep drying mine .
