going to start a part time detailing business this summer... input please

for an apc, what does everyone use? I know a lot of people use zep and they say its readily available at lowes, home depot etc, I'll more than likely go with that

?

Zep Heavy Duty Citrus Degreser (orange stuff) from Home Depot is the bomb! Diluted (as per their recommendations on the jug), I use it with a foaming sprayer for my tires and wells. That said, it may be just as good as any other boutique APC you will find online....and cheaper.

What makes meguiars cleaner wax a 1step, and what does that offer over say just some carnuaba wax, or a sealant?

A "cleaner/wax" also called an AIO or All-In-One is a product that will clean, polish and protect in one step and is definitely something you should be using when starting out.

When starting out you want to do one-step procedures to the majority of your clients cars because the majority of your clients cars will be mundane daily drivers.

All these people want is the shine restored and to see water bead when it rains. Don't spin your wheels doing multiple step processes to daily drivers because,

Most people with daily drivers don't want to pay for it
Most people won't appreciate it
Most people won't be able to take care of a show car finish
Most people don't know the difference between a squirrel and a swirl

Is meguiars glass cleaner tint safe?

Yes, of course it is. It's manufactured for the huge detailing market so take my word for it, the chemist took that into consideration back in 1999 or 2000 when they launched the Professional Detailer product line as I had the Oregon Territory for this line when it first was introduced. That's why I bought the Milk Truck... so I would have something to haul the product in on my route.

Mothers clay bar kits ... Input please

A very important question.. My rates.. Right now I'm thinking 60-80 for wash clay wax shine, add interior for 100-120 interior includes vacuum cleaning protectant and glass treatment
Thoughts?

For a glass cleaner I'm just going to go with stoner for now, and lexol for leather conditioner (I have some cg leather conditioner as well)

Also yeah that's a good point on the quick disconnect tool and auto on off, could you link me to these I'm currently on my phone and it's a pita to navigate

Can anyone think of any essentials I'm missing?

sonax wheel cleaner... worth the price tag?

bump on a great place for bulk MF buy? looking for 50-100

Try a wholesale club Microfibers aren't an investment there a tool when they get crappy and fall apart toss them out. it's not a big deal if they only cost 50 or 60 cents each. You can spend a ton of money on microfibers if you want but from a business point of view I wouldn't

I bought a package of 24 at Auto Zone last week for $17. Different colors like I wanted, and they do the job. No need to dump a ton of money on these things.
