Good-bye and good riddance Comcast and DirecTV. Now that FiOS is offered in my neighborhood, I signed right up. Its getting installed tomorrow. WWWOOOOOHHHOOOOOO!!!!!:dblthumb2:

Your lucky. Have been waiting for Verizon's FIOS to show up in our town. It's in other towns around us.

FIOS is basically Fiber Optic cable which is literately glass that carries light which is the signal. It can carry information much quicker and more of it than traditional cable.

aaaawwwww....

I'm stuck with crap Time Warner and AT&T Uvers isn't offered in my area yet...

COME ON VERIZON with your FiOS..:(

It doesn't really matter to be honest. It's just faster speeds.

How fast is your internet right now?

Fiber Optics can reach REAL speeds of over 100 Megabits per sec

I'm on Time Warner Road Runner's "turbo" service and I'm getting anywhere from 15mbps~25mbps

Its not worth it when we're paying 70ish bucks a month for this service with only basic cable and the gay "turbo" when Verizon service is around 80bucks a month for something that's 4~5x faster.

I have fios. Its a good service but REALLY REALLY expensive. They quoted me $120 a month and my bill has never been less than $230. I love the on demand feature and the internet is good but you definitely pay for it.

FIOS is amazing. I will never go back to "Comcrap" !!!!

ive had fios for a few years now, well since it first came out lol. it is THE BEST tv quality you can get but it is expensive! verizon has the WORST customer service and always tries to rip you off for money somehow. somehow they always add charges to my bill each month so i removed all of my movie channels and whatnot. i have just basic channels now but i dont mind because i have netflix on my xbox for free! Fios is awesome though i cant watch tv without fios. cablevision is HORRIBLE compared to fios and the channels move very quick in fios theres no lag between switching channels as in cablevision

Call them, let them know your gonna have to cancel your service if they can't come down on the price. Let them know what you were initially quoted, I've done the same thing with comcast, my bill when from $170 a month to $108 a month and my service did not change. Its amazing what a phone call will do... :xyxthumbs:

We're all waiting here and when FIOS shows up Comcast is History....:props:

For those that don't have FiOS, have you gone on their website and plugged in your address? They use this to see how many requests come in to get FiOS into that neighborhood. Or you can call them. I did this for about 3 months and finally they sent me a letter saying they're offering FiOS in my neighborhood.

Right now I'm paying an arm and a leg for chitty internet. I pay alomst $60 bucks for JUST internet. I pay another $54 bucks for DirecTV. And thats only because I have a reoccuring credit for almost cancelling. FiOS is being advertised, in my area, for new customers for the triple play (phone, internet, and phone) for two different promotions. Online its all three for $84.99. The letter I've been getting is $99.99 for 12 months guranteed price, showtime/stars/encore movie package free for a year, a free DVR. Well I called in and got a deal...she gave me the triple play for $89.99, the above free movie channels for a year, a free multi-room DVR. I'm good because I'll be in my house for one more year. After I get married I'm moving back to Maryland with my Fiance. I will have to warn those interested in FiOS...they are agressive. I chatted with a rep online and he didnt' answer my question but was quick to try to get me to sign up. I told him no and called in. The first time I called they tried to do the same thing. I hung up on the chick. Luckily the third time I called I got a really nice lady. Now...I could have just said screw it, especially because I was getting frustrated with their customer service, but I needed to get a phone hook up because the alarm on my house, and I wanted to lower my bills. So I went ahead and signed up.

Keep calling in. Have your neighbors call in. Plug in your address on their website. Once they see this, they'll move in. Trust me!

GOODNESS!!! What the heck did you sign up for?!?!?! I would do like someone said and threaten to cancel the service. They will lower your bill.

Congrats Alko,
I'm in the same metropolitan area as you, and hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer until FIOS is available in my neighborhood. They're ripping us all off though, regardless if what type of service you get.

LOL thanks! And yes you are right!! What sucks is, I don't watch t.v. too much. I just watch Fox 5 news, CNN, A&E, History Channel, and Discovery. Thats about it.

^ those are the same exact channels i watch too! lol plus national geographic and science channel

I don't get Nat Geo...I wish I did. I've become a history and science dork in my adult age.

I'll say I never once had an issue with my Fios internet service in the 4 years I had it. Unfortunately, the annual, and sometimes semi-annual price hikes are what did it. It went from $39.99/mo. (not a promotion) to $64.99/mo. just for internet. I'm sure it's over $70 at this point as I haven't used their service in nearly a year.
