My wonderful parents got me a laptop for Christmas. Now I am looking for a case to keep it nice and shiny.

Can anyone reccomend some good hard laptop cases? It needs to be padded, as well as have a shoulder strap. The laptop's dimensions are: 16.1" x 12.3" x 1.5." I don't really care if it holds the power supply or not. A built in lock is nice, but not important.

I looked at pelican cases, and it looked like their 1495 would fit, but it wasn't long enough. To get the thing to fit would involve removing more foam that I feel comfortable. The next best bet from Pelican is their 1600, but it is too big and doesn't have a shoulder strap.

Are there any others out there?

Try to make the Pelican work. They are awesome cases.

You got that right,
I tried & want so bad for it to work. No dice. The only one that will fit is unreasonably large for a schoolboy =(

Please tell me there are others

My personal favorite case is the Zero Halliburton line, they are bar none the best. I have had them in the car when I got in a wreck and although the case put a dent in the door where it hit the case and the laptop where fine.

Great stuff by the looks of it. 'Bit out of my price range though.

Has anyone had any luck with the HPRC cases? Specifically their 2700?

I wanna say mines a Targa ??? Cheap and effective.

Would it be targus by any chance? A google search lead me to targa: A computer company, and targus: a travel case manufacturer.
Edit: It doesn't realy make a difference either way. Their cushioned ones don't fit a 17.3" laptop.

For a laptop that size, I would recommend getting a backpack type... I too have a 17" laptop and wish when i am carrying it that I didn't have a shoulder strap. Targus makes some nice ones.

This is what I have. I like it. Lots of storage. I doubt you would want it though.:awesome: It does come in black though.
