Good vision in a downpour

OMG.

People! Do not eat the bait!

This is an email chain that has been passed around since 2009 or longer.

See EXACT article on snopes.com - Undetermined.

To the OP:

Did you even *TEST* the info in this article, or did you simply post it here because it looked like a good idea? the article is 100% verbatim, meaning the OP copied and pasted the damn thing.

Unfortunately that's how these things propagate in the first place, it sounds like solid info and everyone passes it on, hoping to make themselves useful. Now we've got people telling others to wear SUNGLASSES IN THE RAIN.

some may be accurate, MOST of them are flat out horse manure! Thank $^#@ for snopes.

First off let me tell you that I have been a member of AGO since 2006 and I had no intentions of posting anything that would harm anyone in this forum or any forum for that matter and I had no idea it was a spam mail if it really is. With regards to testing it, I haven't tested it yet, when I read it it looked legit and thought I might help some people that's all.

Have you tried this with non polarized sunglasses?

I thought this was common knowledge. I have been doing it for the near 15 years I have been driving, and even talked my mom into trying it one day when I was just still a passenger and noticed the difference. ANY sunglasses I have ever tried this with (colored lenses, black lenses, dime store, whatever) have always produced better vision results in the rain. In hard down poors on the interstate, I will always put on glasses - have even wore my wife's cheapies before when I didn't have mine.

I don't think it is as dramatic as the e-mail sounds, but I have found it to be the case.

Given my personal results, I would say that polarized lenses may make it even better - but to say that non-polarized doesn't work is either untrue, or I am a liar.

IME, yepper. :D

Spam email/chain email or not. This is the first time I have seen it. However, like I said in my post. I have my windshield tinted for the reasons mentioned in the email. Before that I was wearing a lightly tinted pair of sunglasses at night when it rained. Even if the roads were wet. I don't need to do this anymore, but IMO it works.

To Nick, Meghan, Mike or anyone from AGO, please delete this thread as soon as possible if in some way you think it can cause harm to anyone in this forum for it being spam, if it really is. As I said I posted this to enlighten people about the matter and not to harm anything or anyone.

There we go, it works for M.P. Cobra Fan too. :dblthumb2:

Now all I have to do is to try it myself.

I am interested in hearing

Sorry, just saw this...

Clean your windows before washing. Apply heavy coat of Rain-X to windows. Wash car (not windows) After washing, dry the windows with Terry Cloth or Micro Fiber towel

Thanks. And deep dish isn't pizza it's pie. :)

You guys take your car out in the rain?! lol. I had a couple of front wheel drive cars start to hydro plane, it's a scary feeling to have the front end start to fish tail. The kind of tires that are on the vehicle makes a big difference. High performance, handling tires = quicker hydro planing and skidding.

Never!!!

If its raining and I need to go somewhere, I take either my mom's or my dad's car!

I'll never expose my paint to nasty (possibly, acid)rain! :nomore:

Do you think there is a reason that most states make illegal to tint your front windshield?
Answer: It reduces visibility!!

I use Aquapel on all my vehicles and I'm totally impressed with its performance. The sunglasses solution intrigues me and I'll give that a try as well....:props:

I like Aquapel ... quick and easy. No issues, apply twice a year. Change wipers annually.

Do you experience (I'm not sure how to describe this) a haze after the wiper passes that disappears quickly then windshield clears? If so, how did you correct this?

I noticed it with products like Rain-X but not Aquapel. I do however clean glass with DP Glass Restorer first, and then add Aquapel. Every other time I replace wipers, so usually on an annual basis. Some wipers have silicone and might not work with Aquapel which is more of a semi-permanent coating.

Here in PA we can't have dark tint on any of the windows though some do anyways. A PA state trooper told me that it is illegal so the police can see whether or not the occupants of the vehicle are up to no good (holding a gun etc.) when they are being pulled over.
