Good wheel cleaner??

Meg's wheel brightener for the really dirty wheels or Meg's Apc+ for the everyday dirty.

What I stock for wheels: Iron-X, Meg's WB, CG Diablo Gel. I'm still on the fence with CD DG... perhaps I have not tried a strong enough dilution (using 3:1) but it seems barely stronger than normal car wash soap. I only use it for my maintenance packages.

Meg's AW&TC isn't bad though for OTC if you need something right now or run out while on a job.

One car, and thus one situation but...

I did one wheel with iron x and one wheel with Mothers Foaming All Wheel Cleaner.

Iron x is for paint and wheels. Mothers is for wheels and tires. Let's just say that the Mothers did such a good job on wheels that I'll be saving my Iron x for paint, at least until I do more tests.

Mothers not only cleaned the tires and wheels, but seemed to remove iron particles too, although there was no color change. After cleaning the Mothers wheel the wheel was left to dry. Then I sprayed ironx and to my surprise I had to look extrememly hard to see any color change...

...which tells me that another spray down of Mothers would have cleaned the wheel just as well, and it's way cheaper. So for me, until I conduct more testing I'll be saving my ironx for painted surfaces and using the Mothers Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner, chrome wheel cleaner, aluminum wheel cleaner, Mothers wheel cleaner on the wheels and tires.

Seems crazy, I know.

i am looking for a good wheel/tire cleaner

I am currantly using a local dealers
Here's a good:
Affordable, Foaming, VOC compliant,
Non-hydrofluoric acid wheel cleaner...
From another "local dealer":

Must be a gallon
25-50 dollars
Their 1-gallon size, (4-per/case), here recently, have been on sale.
You can get a 5 gallon container for ~ $19/per gal.
A 55 gallon drum for ~ $16 per/gallon.

:)

By the way,
I still prefer Westley's Bleche White for tires and white letters, but Mother's is a close 2nd.

Our local dealer? A pm will suffice.

i am picking Megs wheel brite!!!!! if i dont like it no big deal

IMHO...
A person should be aware that Meg's D140 Wheel Brightener does contain ammonium bifluoride.

Ammonium bifluoride, when contacted with water, will decompose to form:
Ammonium Fluoride, and Hydrofluoric Acid.

The HF content of this resulting solution will be very corrosive, toxic and hazardous.

-It would be wise to follow all PPE recommendations; and...
Keep some of this around the detailing-premises at all times:

Health & Safety...First and Foremost!!

AIO Cleaner - Eagle One A2Z (So underrated), Mothers 2nd.

Wheels Only - Mine are usually medium soiled so APC+

Autogylm Custom Wheel CLeaner... Best cleaner I've used although, I don't use it as much as I did in the past since I know opti-coat the majority of the wheels I see.

That matches my experience with Diablo Gel. It is safe, which is good thing, but it doesn't pack much punch.

AutoGlym Custom Wheel Cleaner (Amazon has it)
Sonax
or P21S Gel

would be my top three choices for not super nasty, US available, products.

I love Megs All Wheel and Tire. Usually buy out the local stock when Walmart has it on sale. No gallons.

Mothers All Wheel and Tire is a great choice.

Ok, this may be a (stupid) question, but I'm gonna ask anyway (Newbie)
My wheels are painted and I've been told only to clean them with warm, soapy water. What is safest wheel cleaner for painted wheels (Lexus)?

Best bang for the buck. My vote is Mother's. For nasty wheels, I agree Sonax is great. It is a little pricy and smells pretty rank. For really nasty wheels, Brown Royal. Strong stuff so don't breathe it.

I really like PB spray and rinse wheel cleaner- really easy to use and pretty economical.
