Today I traded in my '06 Mazda MX-5 for an '06 Mazdaspeed 6. :)

The MX-5 was fun, but just too small and inconvenient. The MS6 is more comfortable all-around and most importanatly, much faster. :)

Once I get it clayed and polished I'll post some pics.

Oh, and it's black...yikes! I went from a silver car to a black one. More work I suppose, but hopefully I'll get that depth and wetness I couldn't get from the silver.

Not sure what sealant I'm going to use after claying and polishing, but the LSP will definitely be Souveran. :)

Congrats on the new car. We want pics!:Picture: And for your LSP, Use this

Give us a review ASAP. :D

congrats' good choice, worthy of the word speed. just have to use 91 octane on those car wants higher octane.

With a little care and lots of Souveran you will likely be happy with your choice in colors. Nothing looks better than a clean black ride.

Congrats,

Nothing quite like a new Black ride....It's gonna look Great once you get it all Souveran'd up!! :D

You got the 274 hp turbo one right, that a bad ass car, I got just a 4 cylinder 6 with a stick, I love the way those cars handle, I will say if you have the money buy a bra or put one of those clear bras across the front, mazda kinda falls short in the paint quality area, stil its a very good car. Congrats

Yes, it's the 274hp turbo. And thanks for the head's up on the paint.

Thanks, everyone. Once I get it fully detailed I'll post some pics.

Does it feel like 274 hp and how does it handle being all wheel drive.

P.S. If you ever have any questions regarding stereo or electronics in that car let me know, I've taken my car apart so many times and done so much electronic work on it, I know it like the back of my hand.

Kewl. We have started looking for a new one. I like what you got she likes the Vibe and I also. Not sure if I want payments again though. Funds the wax habit.:)

Congratulations on the new ride! Black is the hardest to keep clean but there is nothing else like it when it is clean and detailed. I can't wait to see the pics. I think the new DP sealant or WG would be awesome and topped with Souveran it would be heaven on wheels! :)

Yes. You can definitely feel those horses. It's addicting. I actually had a V6 Mazda 6 a couple years ago. I liked it except for the front wheel drive and a lacking of low end torque.

I havent really taken it on any twisties yet, but the short time driving it I've enjoyed the handling. Feels very balanced.

And..someone on another board asked for some pics, so I took a few. Again, once I get it fully detailed I'll take some better ones...It's a very interesting metallic black. Looks different from certain angles. Overcast day doesn't help much.

Sweet ride, she looks like she would kick butt and take names later!

Well, after inspecting the paint under a halogen, it appears this car's gone through a couple or few dealership-style washes. There's quite a bit of fine micro-marring throughout the vehicle, with a few spots that will need a bit more work.

I've clayed the hood and been working on that the past couple of days. I'm just doing a panel at a time since I haven't had the time to do a marathon session. I started M80, but that didn't seem to be cutting it, so I stepped up to M83 with a light cutting pad. I've got the bulk of it polished nicely, but there are certain areas that I guess are a bit deeper in the clear than I thought, as I'm having to make many passes with the 83 to remove them. And in certain areas they are only reduced, but not gone completely gone. I know I can eventually remove them with the PC, it's just taking so long. I guess I could step up to SSR 3 in those trouble spots.

Hopefully this weekend I'll clay the rest of the car and get some serious polishing time in. BTW, my rotary arrived today...never used one before so it's not going near the 6. But I am looking forward to learning to use it. Seems like it will be a great time-saver.

After just a few days of ownership, I can see that owning a black car is going to increase my detailing time 10-fold over the silver car I previously owned.
