Got a work platform for 30 instead of 70 from Home Depot, Thought Id pass along geeks

Huh? Of course they do!

A work platform must be tested
to 4x its rated capacity.

OSHA 1910.23(e)(1):
”Mobile ladder stands and platforms are
capable of supporting at least four times
their maximum intended load.”

Bob

So why label it at 220? Most people weigh that much anyway

I went and bought my gorilla one today....total $28.43 out the door when they used my military discount with it!

Eldorado2k is it really 20" tall like they list it? Need something tall enough to use to reach the middle of big suvs and pickups.

After using it for the 1st time, it's definitely tall enough which is good. Another great and unexpected feature is that you can safely walk onto it or mount it for lack of a better word..

See that middle step behind my wash bucket? You just quikly place your foot there and step onto the platform real easy. I always thought you had to make 1 big step onto the the top.

also forgot to mention... if you want a little more grip on the top, go to your local skateboard shop and buy some griptape...

That’s where having industrial
experience comes in handy.

Most people? Hardly.

{BTW: I only weigh 260lbs.}

Bob

It shouldnt be industrial experience. If you label something at max load 220 lbs then it should break at 220, not keep loading it. Also, alot of people that are using these would be weighing about that and sometimes put more on them such as gear

Oh yea, I think I know what you're talking about.

Kinda like on stairs in some places. I think 3m makes some versions. How are you liking yours so far? I think I literally sold 30 of these single handily in about 5 hours lol

I like it so far. I have to get used to stepping onto it with 1 foot with total confidence.. I'm not used to that and kept thinking I was going to eat it. Lol.
It did jerk while I was on it and I'm not exactly sure what caused that to happen, but that only happened a couple times and I hope I can find out why so I can avoid it if possible. But other than that I'd rate it a 9/10 based on my 1st experience with it.

It's definitely taller than using a milk crate. Turning a milk crate on its side and standing on it vertically equals 19". And you have to be extra careful when standing like that because 1 wrong move and you're going to faceplant. On this you no longer have to worry because it feels secure.
Almost makes you wish you had 2, for each side of the vehicle to avoid having to pick it up and move it.

Lowes , Home depot give 10% military discount. I go to the register show them my retirement ID and 10% off. Some times they check the expiration dat, mine ends end of december when I turn 65 then a trip to base and get updated one that works to 70 :)

Then, IMO, you should understand
the reasons for the aforementioned
OSHA’s “4X regulation” pertaining
to work platforms.

•Experiences are invaluable assets,
gained over one’s lifetime. I enjoy
taking the time to share mine.

•You’re young; your experiences
in things of this nature will also be
gained during your lifetime. Hopefully,
someday, you’ll also take the time to
share those experiences.

I'd like to see what happens if a 300lbs. man were to have a major accident due to a work platform collapsing under him.

I've got a feeling Werner would be quik to point at the 225lbs. weight limit and do their best to to have zero liability. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
