Got an offer to move my business down to S.Florida

Yea I'm not sure what's going on. I kinda talked to the Guy and offered him a deal and I don't think he likes it. I'm not moving down there and just barely survive. I'm thinking about taking 3 months and seeing what I can put together. If it doesn't work I can come back in March for the spring and continue to run my business here in STL

Florida is one of the state with the worse housing market. Alot of people are tight with there money now. Most of the people that had there vehicles detailed dont anymore. The ones that do would rather pay $10 at the corner then $30-$50 for a quality detail.

:iagree:

Your title is misleading. What you have is a job offer. Not a relocation for your business. If you already have a decent clientale built up where you are, I recommend you stay put. You leave, theres no gaurantee these clients will have you back should you decide to return. In this business theres hardly any loyalty

Well I guess in a sense it is miss leading but I planned on getting my own clientele myself too. Its winter time right now and mo one is getting there car detailed till spring time. If I left tomorrow and came back in March I bet none of my clientele would know I left. I'm not washing cars up here its all details. What could going down to Florida for 3 months to see what happens hurt in the dead of the winter?

I say give it a shot bud! It's only a few months down here and if things don't work out you can always move back. Sometimes in business you have to make a risk for a reward. My standpoint of view.

Hey I don't see what it could hurt. Sure ill. Loose some money getting down there but it , after all risk is my last name lol

Sounds to me as if you had an answer to you dilemma before you posted this tread... So have fun moving, and good luck on your new journey...

Its not for sure yet. I'm still waiting to hear back from the owner to see what he thinks about what I want(to move down there). He was supposed to call me 2 days ago....

If you think you are going to want to try it out do it now, I can't imagine with the weather up there you are doing a ton of business these next few months. If you have the luxury to try it out before making a long term commitment then do that.

Go for it then. If you don't, you'll always be asking yourself what if

Good luck :props:

Oh, and I'm from Venezuela, live in NY. Used to live in Orlando, FL. And take at least 2 vacations a year in central/south FL. Since I still have family and friends there. And none lives in a crime pit.

Just to intercede...

No harm was intentionally meant towards you or anyone participating in this thread...

The original poster is in law enforcement and sees allot of bad things that many of us only see on T.V.

He is a person of up standing character and we caught him on a bad day.

I'll back Joe up on this... I worked all day with Scott on his Corvette and he's as nice a guy as you ever want to meet, he's also in charge of helping young people that have been in trouble with the law and his passion is to help them change their lives for the positive and be successful, that is such an admirable quality and a sign of their true character.

I was never upset or anything.... I can be just sarcastic sometimes. Ask my friend Mike Phillips - He knows ...

Joe has a great sense of humor and is the kind of guy that that would give anyone the shirt off his back.

:)

well i am in se fl 2 hrs from where your thinking of going. details are way down these days .
like 1/2 of what we got last year. every guy with a buffer thinks hes a detailer.
there are guys detailing cars for 50.00 here. lol but its not a real detail more like a wash and wax.
I own master detailers in cape coral fl and do mostly boats thats where the money is down here. you need to be insured also. or you cant work on anyones lot down here you need 1,000,000 ins .
i am doing ok but not like it was for the last 3 yrs.
this year is bad .If your not doing them for 1/2 the price from last year your not getting any work.
