Got my first ticket this weekend. I'm 18 and I feel victimized. Lol but really, I got a ticket for turning right at a red light that had sign that said no turn on red. I did see the sign and neither did my passenger. There was 1 sign posted on my side of the intersection but it wasn't on the street light pole so I didn't see it. There was no sign on the opposite side of the intersection.

Just a little rant as I'm bummed out. $300 and traffic school. But luckily the cop opted to not ticket me for having no front license plate which I'm thankful for!

Anyways if anyone would like to share a story about getting a ticket please do so, so that I feel better about myself and can laugh at you :)

I've actually had several over the years, but none that I've had to pay out for. Perks of being friends with your local county attorney.

About the only defense you might have is to research the law in your state regarding the requirements for such signage. Maybe it's improperly marked or the location of the sign might not meet the legal requirements. If it is improperly marked, take some photographs and go to court and plead not guilty.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: In CA all handicap parking spaces must be marked with the typical markings on the ground and a sign directly in front of the handicap space. I see many handicap spaces without the sign in front. If you get a ticket for parking in such a space you can beat it in court because the space was not properly marked in accordance with the law.

And by the way... I just got a ticket yesterday (Sunday) too!. Far from my first though.

I'm 43 now and have had plenty in the past...mostly speeding. The last speeding ticket I ever got was when you were 6 (the day after my daughter was born and I was headed back up to the hospital) Most recent ticket for me was tint, it used to be a repair and prove ticket but not anymore :0(

I was so ready to buy more detailing supplies and maintenance items for my car but nooooo I have a ticket to pay now :(

There's no right turns on red at all, where I live. The only other city I know of in North America where you can't make a right on red is NYC. Honestly, it's a huge PITA that I can turn right on red off the island of Montreal but not on the island (just like Manhattan).

I got stopped just this morning for passing cars turning left while in the right lane (cop tried to say I was passing people on the right). Got out of the ticket luckily.

I got two holes in my front bumper :( but it looks better than a license plate at least

It is weird when you live in one of (NYC) our five boroughs where no turns on red except where it is permitted by sign. And, traveling to long island where mostly you can make a right turn on red AFTER FULL STOP!, unless otherwise posted No Right Turn On Red. It is weird because sometimes you don't know if it is still Queens or already LI.

What always got me was when the officer pulls you over for speeding and asks "is there a reason you were going so fast?". There is absolutely no answer for that. Its the same as the question "have you stopped beating your wife?".

In our state (FL) you have a couple of choices. Go to court, if the officer fails to show up or made error on ticket and it is proved it is dismissed. You can also plead your case. Bring pictures and explain the issue and error asking for leniency from the judge.

Other choice, consider an option like the Ticket Clinic or Attorney that specializes in traffic cases, usually the ticket is dismissed and you may be responsible for Court Costs. It seems like a racket, but insurance premiums at your age could skyrocket or in some cases they drop you.

Best of luck ....

The officer asked for my license and insurance, not registration, Idk why. But after I go to traffic school is my license still show the record of my mistake? And how much will my insurance go up? Last time my dad mentioned insurance to me he said it was 240 something but idk if that is per month. Also the inurance card shows his name not my name

My daughter has no tickets, in college, same age as you, $250.00 a month. Chances are your insurance may go up. The good thing is it wasn't a speeding ticket. You don't want to get one of those, your insurance will go through the roof. His names on it because your on his insurance. You don't even want to know what you'd be paying if you were on your own.

Never any moving violations thanks to my Escort 9500ix.

Been rocking no front plate for 3 years now, and no issue either.

Oh and window tint all around including windshield..no issues..

i'm discreet :)

I know I wouldn't get pulled over for no front plate and I know a lot of people who go without one, but lately I've been thinking, who the heck cares about the front plate on my car. Likely no one but me, so I put it on but didn't drill the bumper.

As for tint, I love having it especially to reduce glare at night. However, where I work they love to give out tint tickets, but where I live they don't care at all.
