Was going about 75 ish in these hellashish winds here in Vegas. All of the sudden and from my left, a big a** plastic tarp or drop cloth comes flying by and I hit it square on the hood. Obviously it left some visible scratches and none that I can FEEL with my finger nail. I got the majority of them out but you can definately still see where the tarp slid off the hood. FYI - it's a black car :(

So far I've used:

Porter Cable with various cutting pads and the Pinnacle XMT 1 and 3. Also used some Klasse AIO and it did seem to help. Thats all I have in my aresenal for scratch removers. What would you guys recommend (any products I can pick up locally). I'm almost thinking I need to find someone with a straight Orbital.

I wish I can take pictures but the wife has the camera somewhere and it's too late to wake her up. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about that. :(

Tough to absolutely say without pictures, but if you can't catch a nail in the scatches they should come out...at least the majority of them. FWIW on my own car I do have a small scratch that I can't catch my nail on, but I can tell is still fairly deep in the clear. I polished it out until it was less noticable, but choose not to take off more CC just to get it perfect. It is a daily driver after all. It was tough, but I've learned to live with things like this.

I'd stick with the XMT 3 until the scratches are removed or reduced to your satisfaction. Only then would I move on to a lighter polish to remove any hazing. Then maybe an AIO followed by a sealant/wax.

Thanks for the reply's guys. To be more specific, I have the Edge 2000 Wave 6 inch foam DA pads. I have yellow, green, orange, blue and white. What do you suppose I use with the XMT 3?

yellow if there are still scratches.

You probably will need to use green then and stick with XMT3. The yellow pad leaves a lot of micromarring. I would say green and XMT2, but XMT3 will work. Then follow this with XMT1 and orange pad to really bring out the shine if you choose.

Damn thats some bad luck, where the hell did a tarp come from lol. Good luck getting the marring out.
