It gave an https link but I didn't click on it, I went directly to my PayPal and logged in and it didn't say anything about updating. Scam? If so, how with the https link?

its definately a scam, always go to paypal and log in if theres a problem there will be a message in the account. They probably mask the link somehow.

Paypal will always address you by your name.....Like Dear Surfer..these scams get people to update on a Phish site and then the people use your account ....

But as jason said...when you get these log on and if there is a alert you will see it in your account....

I just go directly to the Paypal site...man it's a scary internet out there..

It's phishing for your info man. Unless you see something when you log in, never trust those emails. I've never gotten a legitimate email from paypal asking for that stuff.

Got a few of them in the past, and all i can say is it's a SCAM!...........

Yeh I get them all the time and I could see they were scams right away as it would have some funky version of a paypal address that wasn't secure. This is pry the 1st I've seen with 'https", I get these from Ebay as well about updating my account.

I always go directly to them and not click on the links.

One of the oldest spams in the book my friend!

I get that carbage all the time. Definitely a scan to get you account PW.

I got one that states someone has tried to access your account from outside the country, please follow this link and fill out required information. Sent to [email protected] and got a confirmation email is was illegitimate.

Download the Ebay toolbar, it makes your address bar turn green if it's a legit site. It turns red if it is a phishing site.

I received one supposedly from PayPal and it included my name but it was not like PayPal usually refers to me. It was plain text message and did not have the usual PayPal graphics...

They did not include a link or anything but did have the usual suspicious activity comment, It even said go directly to PayPal web site by typing directly into browser window. Since I rarely use PayPal I was not that alarmed but I did check later and of course nothing was wrong.

I am wondering if this is a more sophisticated attack they are planning.

I got the same email, I got my identity stolen. My personal info along with my card no. My card was used in places like Italy, England, & Scotland. Don't believe it...! Send it to [email protected].
