So I'm getting ready for my spring detail this weekend, and have noticed that my exterior trim took a beating during the winter. The trim is lightly textured and is gray (it's not faded, gray is the original color). Also, there are a few spots from a poor wax job performed by the previous owner 3 years ago that I have yet to deal with. So, I'm looking for a product(s) that will both clean/remove wax stains and give the trim a nice, non-greasy looking finish. Also, UV protection is important as the car is outside 24/7. I've looked at 303 aerospace wipes, back to black, and a few other products on a/g but am unfamiliar with them and want to get something that works.

Any recommendations or experiences are greatly appreciated!! :xyxthumbs:

Here is a snip from a guide I'm working on. It might be a product recommendation that will help you.

Whoops!! Yeah, so I didn’t mask anything off like I normally would have, but that was on purpose. I wanted to show you what happens when you hit your trim and seals with your polisher and how to clean it up.

You’ve seen that before I’m sure, right? Well, it isn’t so bad to clean up. My wiper cowl can get to looking like that sometimes too.

The solution there is Poorboy’s Trim Restorer. It does a fantastic job on polish stained trim and general damage to plastic and rubber.

Not bad, eh? Definitely look into getting some of that. It is awesome. It isn’t quite a gel, but it is thicker than Armor All. Sort of like soap, only thinner by a little bit. You can either apply it directly on the piece you are working on, or just apply it to the towel and rub it in. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes.

Aerospace 303 is a great product and I would definitely recommend it for UV protection and appearance. It won't necessarily clean the wax out of the plastic, but it is a great protectant.

So is the PB cleaning it up or just covering it up?

And does AG carry the PB products? I couldnt find it on the site

It cleans it up; once the PB's wears out, there will be no wax or polish residue left behind. I second PB's trim restorer, great stuff on faded trim and is surprisingly durable.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll definately take a look at the PB, and then maybe apply 303 over the PB for protectant

Looking forward to that write-up your working on OCD! :xyxthumbs:

It is a work in progress. You can see some of it in the How To Articles section of this message board, or you can view it on my blog here: OCDetails Blog I still need to do the final step (interior and final detailing) before I can start integrating everything all together. I've got a couple of other things to add to it that I'm not sure how to do just yet, but if you follow the blog then you'll be up to date. :)

Thanks for the link, good read. I'm going to go buy some foaming engine degreaser and CD2 Engine detailer right now. :bolt:
