Great Indoors: Examples of Vehicle Interior Detailing by AutoLavish

Great work!

Wanted to give you a heads up, it looks like on the focus you have dust on your camera sensor. It is not in every picture, but a number of them.

Thanks Legacy! You are right about the camera. It has some stuff that cannot be removed. We had the camera cleaned professionally just recently, but some of the spots remain. I guess that goes with treating the camera as bad as we do, as it get thrown around in the truck (in bag, but still), grabbed with wet soapy hands, gets water sprayed on it every once in awhile, polish dust and residue, and all the wax and dressings as well. Also the reason we have not invested in a more expensive camera yet :(

I would love to step up to a D90 or something!

I love looking at super clean high end stuff I'll never touch. But the reality is I enjoy this type of work the best. That KIA was indeed, killed in action. Holy cow...I smoke in my own car and can't IMAGINE it ever looking like that. Just wow. Amazing turn around.

I have a carbon copy of that focus to do in the next months. We'll see what I can do. It's just as bad, dude lives in his car, almost literally.

Only thing I'd like to add is that with as much seat removal as you guys do I HIGHLY recommend getting a cordless impact gun, Makita 18v white ones are the bomb. Get one, you'll never look back.

Thanks! I agree, seeing wicked transformations is what gets me going as well.

We actually don't do much seat removal, definitely not enough to need power tools. I do have a DeWalt 18V cordless and it works great! But seats are sometimes Torx, or at medium static torque, so hand tools is sufficient. Plus there is always the need to final torque by hand tool.

But we do use the DeWalt for removing wheels, which probably made a 80% reduction in time to do so and a worthy investment just for this reason.

You guys are the great detailers.

Thanks! Surely too kind, I would say we are among good friends ;)

Great job as usual. I wish I knew someone who wanted to do cars with me.

Thanks fancy! Working with others is a great way to break up the monotony and have an extra set of eyes for quality control, even if they are not polishing per se. You might be able to find someone willing to just keep up the grounds and things in their place and in order during your detailing, for less cost.

Great job on those details!!! They deserve to be extreme make-overs!!! The first couple of cars were just trash but you were able to restore it to like-new condition!

How do you do a wash/clay/1 step AIO/seal in 2 hours?! Please tell! :)

It's actually fairly easy if you have more than one person working. While one is washing wheels, the other can be removing bug guts from the front bumper, two people drying, one person going down each side of the car with a buffer, etc.

Back when I was working with a partner, I could do vehicles as large as a minivan exterior in about 2 hours. We had our process pretty much down to a science in terms of who did what steps -- no need to stop and discuss what to tackle, we just got to work and knocked them out.

Awesome write up. My wife and I also specialize in interior detailing, I like it better than the exterior as well. We love that steamer we have the same one. But what was that big rectangular attachment used on the carpets, that was cool.
