Every one of my 4inch green pads starts to shred where the pad meets the Velcro. I do the typical 3 pea sized dots of the green rupes polish, no downward pressure, keep the whole pad on the surface I just can’t keep buying these after one or two uses. Is it caused by the friction? Just want some help I guess on how I can avoid this happening in the future, been through about 6-8 pads now lol

What tool, what speed, washer mod?

I have the Mini and have never experienced this problem with Rupes pads, green etc or any other pads and I run it BTW. #6 most of the time when I'm polishing.

I have had this problem with yellow pads, cause was pads being over saturated with polish. Changing pads more often cured the problem.

The additional heat generated by a 12mm throw on a 3" pad is substantial and Rupes green pads are notorious for shredding after only a few polishing sessions. I've been able to get 10+ polishing sessions out of the green rupes pads I have left.

Prolonging pad life

-Don't prime foam pads
-Used compressed air on open-cell foam pads to blow out as much paint residue and spent compound as possible
-Only use dry pads
-If you don't have compressed air, swap to a clean dry pad after every 2-3 section passes
-Use less polish. Most modern polishes are so well lubricated that you should be using VERY little polish.
-Clean pads immediately after polishing then lay them face down on a rack to dry

A great alternative to the green rupes pads are the Maroon uro-tec pads. They hold up much better over time.
