North Bay Area to be exact. :) I am starting my own business. Detailing has always been my hobby but last year, after dad's death, I was forced to drop out of college and pick up something that could help sustain family. Detailing worked out great since it allowed me to take my passion and share it with everyone!

I am 'officially' launching on March 1st. I have been skimming the forums but this is the first time I took the initiative to post. I would love to help out forum members in the future.

If any of you have area specific tips for me, I am more than welcome. Plus, I need new friends in this industry!

Best of luck with your new career. It's a tough business and requires lots of work and more than hard work, lots of great PR. Don't cheap out on products. Not meaning the most expensive is the best (necessarily) but stay away from OTC stuff. Also, being able to determine your prospective customer's needs is paramount.
You would never approach a customer with a 2002 Chevy Impala as you would the owner of a Porsche 911 turbo. You have to speak to your audience in a way that makes them be able to relate to you and for them to believe you understand their needs and wants along with their budget.
