Greetings to everyone on the forum. We've just had the second (8") of two of the biggest snow storms in history here in Missouri. We used to be known as "the show me state," but I think the "snow me state" is more appropriate now. (We're still hard-headed though, just like our famous mules, so you'll still have to "show me.") Wherever global warming is happening, it for sure isn't happening here in the midwest.

As you can tell I'm tired of winter and eagerly awaiting Spring so I can better care for my cars in an uninhibited fashion. I hope to better educate myself via Auto Geek while waiting for the snow to melt.
:autowash:
My cars are: 2003 Ford Explorer Limited, 1991 Classic Saab 900 Turbo Convertible, and a 1990 Classic Saab SPG.

PS - Did Meghan in the picture really PM me? Wow, this may be a more awesome forum than I thought.

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you have plenty of time on your hands to learn proper techniques and think about product selection. Pull up a comfy chair click the search button and hold on, it gets expensive from there lol. Also when it doubt just ask, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

That's exactly what I intend to do.

Thanks for the welcome.

Don't feel like The Lone Ranger. We had a record setting snow fall here in Columbus Ohio. 17" of the white stuff. They're calling it the Blizzard of 08. Sounds like they are Happy too. I'm praying for spring so I can detail all their rides that have scratches from removing the ice and snow with the wrong tool. I see $$$$$!

Showroom,

Yea, that was one heck of a snow storm. I think it was the same one that blanketed us. Sounds like you got hit dead center though. I've lived in Missouri most of my life and don't recall that much snow falling all at once here.

Glad to hear that it will likely generate detailing dollars for you. That's Capitalism at it's best!

Welcome to AG from St. Louis!

Blue,

I'm out here in Wildwood / west county waiting for the snow to melt. Plenty of time to read AG if I don't go bannas first.Im the MANIt's 42F now though. I think I'll wash off the road / snow grime today. I usually use a long handled soft bristle brush designed for cars and Meg's Gold for such jobs. I haven't read AG enough to know if that's a good practice or not. Any comments?

Steve

Meg's Gold is a great start, but I would be really careful as to what kind of brush you use on any body panels. A lot of brushes claim to be safe for cars, but can still leave their mark. To fight the winter grime over here, I use M-gold but use the two bucket method with a hefty microfiber wash mitt. This really has been a bad winter; even for the Midwest. I share your sentiments about this weather. Welcome to AG
