So now that we can finally have a home (and soon a pitt bull :awesome:) we want a grill so on the weekend we can use our extra large patio. So far we (or should I say me) have decided on http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=44754-000001646-2121&lpage=none. What are you grillers using? It's mainly just the two of use so we don't need a lot of cooking area, but we do have people over somewhat and a cookout with a little grill is no fun. Carcoal is the only one I want to use and $200 is my limit. Let's here what you use/recommend.

I like Weber. I have the little one for my gf and I and once my bigger grill takes a s*%t on me I am going to get the bigger Weber. I got my dad one about 5 years ago and it doesn't have any rust on it. He just covers it once it is cool.

I got this for Christmas, its from Sharper Image.:D
I love it and the grill...

Looks cool, I like that its a smoker as well. I've been looking at Solaire Infrared grills at a place down the street, not cheap but a friend has one and it rocks, perfectly cooks food and so easy to clean up. We have a larger Kenmore propane.

I have one simular to that..mine is a Brinkman...it is a great smoker grill...makes awesome baby back ribs..lol....you will like it..I am a charcoal person also..do not like gas grilles...you will be very happy with it....

Also..I have 2 pitt bulls ..most loving dogs I ever had...be prepared..they are not a pet..they will become your best friend and like a child..they want you 100% of the time..they are not like most dogs..they are super smart..and high energy...they really bond to the family....

I rescued mine when they were 3 months old..best move I ever made...my dogs are my shadows...they follow me every where..lol....

Just show them love and they will return it 10 times more...

My brother just bought this for himself for Christmas... I WANT IT!!!

Meg, that kinda looks like one of the Solaires I was looking at, is that the model? Some of those grills are mad $$$$. The Grill shop here has your regular grills but ones costing thousands as well (some untis are 10K alone). I asked the owner how many of those large $ ones he does and beleive it or not he sells about 2-3 of those 10-20K+ setups a week, they go all out with marble and build into the side of the house etc. Showed me a picture of one custom job he did on a house here, came out to 30K, was insane and huge, wish I could spend that much on a grill setup LOL.

Not sure if you are just interested in grilling or smoking too. For both the Big Green Egg is great and they have an amazing forum with very passionate members. The grill is expensive, about $600 for a large, not sure what a medium will cost. Visit their site at http://www.biggreenegg.com/. If you are interested in smoking I would get a Weber Smokey Mountain for about $190. They also have a great site http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/index.html. You will see this smoker at many, many BBQ competitions. Very easy to use and I believe some use it to grill with too. You can probably get 4 Boston butts (pulled pork) or 4-6 St. Loius style ribs on there.

I've been smoking and grilling for about 3 years using both grills with lump charcoal. Whatever you get, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as it's not so much the grill but the preparation and technique. You can use both of the above sites for recipes too. BTW - there is also a Grilling forum at http://www.grillforum.com/que/queboard/, you can ask them for help.

I'm a strictly charcoal griller. My Weber has been going strong for years.

I have a propane gas grill because it's great when you have a hurricane and end up with no power for days. It takes to long to make coffee in the morning on a charcoal grill. I'm not much into cooking but my dad loves to grill and he has had Weber Charcoal Grill's for years. (It looks like Sevenrd just grilled one of wytstang's bunnies and feed it to his dog).

Chris if you would believe it was only $1000 from Sams.

For charcoal grilling, it's hard to beat a Weber kettle. They cook well, the large has a good capacity, and they are sturdy and durable. Last season they were $79 around here.

The Char-Grill model you show uses a farily large amount of fuel for only two people, but I believe it has a bit more cooking space.

For true smoke cooking, that one has an available side fire box. It costs an additional $59.99 at stores near me. While I've not smoked with one myself, I have read that the heat distribution isn't as even, but you can work around that.

What would you guys say would be a good/decent for just a smoker?

Brinkmann makes a cylindrical model called the Gourmet Charcoal Smoker. They also have identical styled ones powered by propane or electricity. For $50, they're a great way to start and usually cook more than enough until you have more than 8-10 people eating. They are a water smoker, unlike the Char-Grill (original subject of the post) that converts to a dry smoker.

The Weber Smokey Mountain is similar in size and shape to the Brinkmann, but has more vent adjustments. It is also available in stainless steel, but the price is substantially higher than the $149 I've seen for WSM.

Is Surfer a pro with the grill??
I'm a pro with the microwave, and I grill a mean grilled cheese on a pan over ovens electric burners:righton:

yes I grill:D, the other day we cooked up some filet mignon and real kobe beef burgers that owners of my businesses' parent company sent us as a x-mas gift. Damn those kobe beef burgers are good, but it's like 50 bucks for two patties:eek:
