Grinding sound from PE8

I have a PE8 and PE14. The PE14 is nice and quiet and smooth. The PE8 sounds like the gears are grinding. It only has about 4-6 hours of use on it. I was wondering if others have noticed this and it's just a characteristic of the machine, or if it's something I need to get checked out.

IMO:
Any grinding-of-gears sound(s) should not be
an inherent attribute to this precision-built tool.

That was my thought...I want to make sure it's not just a loud machine. IMO it should be quieter than the PE14 if anything.
 
That's odd. Mine does not make any grinding noise. Mine probably has around the same hours of use as yours. It's a relatively quiet machine when compared to my other polishers.

Here are both machines at speed 4 and then speed 1.

The PE8 does seem to make a noise upon startup and shutoff. Perhaps this is what you're hearing? Never really noticed until now but the PE14 certainly sounds smoother when the motor is engaged or disengaged. Hope this helps.

I appreciate you taking the time to make that video. That sound your hearing at startup, mine sounds like that all the time. I've got some time left on the warranty. I'm going to see if it starts to get worse. Thanks again. I real,y appreciate it.
