I have a total Griots setup (cutting pad, GG DAO, polish 1-3). I bought all of these before reading these forums or really researching any results. When i began reading these forums I noticed that almost no one uses their products other than the wax and Orbital.

Basically, is it possible to get results like that of M105-205 and other compounds that you guys use? Also wondering why there isnt a "finishing polish" in the Griots system. I'm guessing that polish 3 is used for that?

what do you guys think?

I bought the same stuff when I first started and it's true the only things that I still se is the polisher and waxes :) the polishes are not bad but not that great. I could not get the results from the GG polish that I do from super intense polish (SIP) and super finish. I think a huge part is the pads. A one Pad fits all doesn't work.

My recommendation is to try different pads like the lake country pads. And if you still don't get the results you want get a different polish. The pads are cheaper so that's why I would try one or two pads first then if still not the results you want get the polish

Machine Polish 1 has about the same cut as M105 and Machine Polish 3 is about the same cut as M205. So 3 is essentially the finish polish. They also have Machine Polish 4 that is really mild (worked great on mild Subaru swirls) which is basically a paint cleaner and is the only Griot's polish that has fillers. I like the Griot's polishes and I can get them locally. The only other polish I've used is PoorBoy's SSR2.5 so I don't have much to compare.

Do you use it in 3 steps? 1 for cut, 3 for finishing, and 4 for shine and remaining imperfections? And how the hell do you get it locally? Don't they only have one warehouse?

Someone with more experience may chime in but I would only do a two step. 4 is too mild unless you have crazy soft paint.
You can apply to become an official Griot's distributor and there is one near me. Some Advance Auto stores carry it too.

I have and use their polishes. As said above, the #4 is the fine finishing polish.

The reason I use the Megs and Menz polishes is more about workability. The Megs are mostly SMAT products, which is what I prefer. The Menz are DAT, but, easier to work than Griots DATs.

As far as "almost no one uses their products other than the wax and Orbital.", that cant be farther from the truth. Not a lot of polish fans, but, the rest of their lineup is solid. I love the Rubber cleaner, wheel cleaner, interior cleaner, vinyl and rubber prep, car wash, clay, speed shine, spry on wash, microfiber towels, whatever else I forgot and of course, the 6 in polisher.

They are a solid company with great customer service.

As long as we're giving Griot's some love...
The glass cleaner is the best I've tried. I also love the spray on wax and speed shine mf. The Pre wax cleanser is a great safe IPA alternative.

The different products are to give you a specific polish for specific needs. From Griot's catalog...

"Polish 1 is the most aggressive for heavy oxidation and scratches. Polish 2 is for moderate scratches. Polish 3 is the polish I use most. Polish 4 is for light towel marks and swirl marks."

Basically, you only use one polish depending on the condition of your car's finish. Just use the least aggressive polish that gets the job done.

I have all four...I've never needed to use Polish 1 and Polish 2 only a few times. Polish 3 is by far the one I most use.
