I recently had a g110 burn up that was used for 6" Damp Sanding. I removed the backing plate from my 3" Griot I already have and finished the truck I was working on. My question is, do you think I would be fine ordering another 3" Griots but running the 6" backing plate on it if for damp sanding only. I like have the smaller machine head as well as a backup to my 3" Griot if one would ever go down again. I use a Rotary and Flex for correction, so this machine would strictly be for damp sanding only.

Thanks!

Guess this Super Duty was too much for the G110 lol

Why not get another DA? You can probably find a DA for the same price as a GG3" and will do a better job. BTW nice ride.

You don't think the GG3" could handle the 6" pad? or what do you mean by better job?

It will not be used for correction at all, just sanding with 1500,3000,5000

It's my brother rig, but I'll pass the word along..

Thanks for your input!:xyxthumbs:

I think you'll have too much vibration with a 6" pad on the GG 3" DA. I say this because the PC 7424 XP needs a different (and noticeably heavier - almost 2x) counterweight just for going up an inch in pad size (5" to 6"). If that's the case, I imagine a 3" jump on the GG would certainly require a different counterweight, something I don't think can be done with the GG 3".
