I would invest in the 5" backing plate and go with 5.5 inch pads. Both 6.5 and 5.5 will work, 5.5 will just help do it a little quicker with less drag on the machine.
Sounds like either way I will look for another backing plate. Are there differences? Do I need to get a Griot's BP or am I safe to look for other brands? Any good ones out there?
Sorry for such basic questions, when I say I have no experience I really mean it.
Not to get off topic, but can I use the stock Griots backing plate with 6.5 LC pads?
Thank you
Anyone know if Meguiar's W68DA backing plate will work on the Griot's for the new Soft Buff 2.0 pads? I believe they're 7 inch pads. Griot's ROP should be able to handle that right?
I feel the absolute need to post on this subject.
Because the Griot's has so much power,
and because the backing pad on the Hydro-tech pads does NOT cover the entire back of the pad, you will destroy your new hydro-tech pads if you use Griot's on speed 6 often.
