Griots G9 stopped on me part way through polish :(

Griots ain't what they used to be. I was very disappointed when they lied to me. So much so I refused to accept it.
After they tried to jam me with my broken unit (with a lifetime warranty) they will never see a nickel from me again.

My recommendation is to buy from harbor freight (with or without their warranty)
When their $75 unit craps out toss it
We don't have Harbor Freight up here (I was looking at their Hercules forced rotation polisher, but can't get it here :( )
What happened with your warranty? When my first G9 died they were great in helping me (see above. Shipping wasn't their fault.) I don't know if I will get another or something else though...

That's a shame. Despite what some claim harbor freight makes decent tools.

They tried to tell me that they would give a partial credit towards a new one.
That is not the agreement that I had when I purchased.
They tried to tell me that the policy had changed.
I told them that was unacceptable. We went round and round over this, but I eventually won.
That new unit is still in the box sitting on the top shelf of my closet (with 2 new RUPES still in the box)
I figure one day they will end up in my estate sale.
I will never touch another product made by either company

Ah, sorry to hear that. Glad you got a new unit though. Changing policy afterwards is not a good way to go, it can get deep into deceptive quick :/

Yes. If they want to change policy for products made after the time of the new policy going into effect I have no problem with that
However, changing policy on products made before is not acceptable
This ordeal pissed me off so bad that after they agreed to ship a new polisher I sent about 6 half empty bottles of various waxes and polishes back for a refund

A class action lawsuit should happen.
Griots garage = Liars and Crooks

I guess Griot's got bit by that policy...it kind of reminds me of Sears and the Craftsman policy, where it was great for a long time, and then people started buying broken tools at flea markets and bringing them in to the store for a replacement. I forget what the policy change was that Sear made, but of course they weren't around too much longer after that anyway. I wonder what the policy is with whoever owns the Craftsman brand now?

I think the only time I used the Craftsman policy when when I was using a small flat blade screwdriver at work on a frozen screw and twisted the blade. I never broke a socket or a ratchet like some of my friends did. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

What kind of Roops polishers are they?

I was looking at possibly getting a gear driven unit for my next polisher, but ones like the Bigfoot are so pricey up here ($750+CDN !) :( Harbor Freight has one I'd try out (a Hercules for $120 US) but they dont ship here :/

SPTA makes a forced rotation polisher at a reasonable price, might want to look into that

I don't see anything like that available up here.

I wonder how expensive it would be to get the HF one shipped via one of those reship places that do cross-border stuff?! I'll probably get fleeced doing that with our dollar the way it is :/

US store, they want $50 USD to ship + duties, taxes etc...
Ah ok, might as well see if harbor freight will ship their polisher to you and pick whichever is easier on the wallet

Looks like HF won't ship to freight forwarding addresses :(
