Griot's Garage 3 Inch???

Sure, but that's what my cheaper 3" does.

I'm a little confused as to why my choice of using a certain tool, and the way I prefer to detail my own car is such a big deal. You detail how you like, and I'll detail how I like. K? Thanks.
It's no sweat off of my back how you choose to detail. Like artofdetailing said, for 20 bucks more you have 2 machine instead of a machine that is limited to what it can do.
The pc is what like 20 bucks more? Add $30 more for a 3.5 inch backing plate and 4 inch spot buff pads. I agree i like to use 2 different polishers so i can do each panel to completion. Im just trying to help out not trying to bash a product...i want my fellow forum members to have the best

Interesting comments - What I wanted to use it for is correction on my Jeep. Jeep wranglers have a ton of small places and angles, I was hoping this machine would take care of it. I could buy a backing plate, which might be the best thing to do.

I use my 3" GG DA more than my 6" GG DA. When I am correcting a scratch I would much rather remove a 3" swath of clear coat with 105 and then 205 than remove a 6" swatch of clear coat. The clear coat provides UV protection for the paint so that is why I prefer the removal of less clear. Not to mention, you only have so much clear coat anyway. Correction and power are fine at the 5 and 6 setting. I polish posts, and get into tight spaces in the grill with the smaller 3" DA. With todays new cars and all the bends and creases, the 3" works just fine. I do this for a hobby and not for a living, so the job taking longer does not bother me.

Perfect for motorcycle detailing.

Kind of hard to do a front fairing with a 3401/PC/Full Size DA regardless of the pad size. :xyxthumbs:

Oh...and polishing chrome/metal.

Unless there is some backing plate extension rod I don't know about...

I use it all the time for tight areas and motorcycles never had a problem My bigger PC or my Rupes is to big for motorcycles. Mike has thread on what it is capable of and this is like the 5 thread on this machine. Here is the thread.

Thank you for posting that link!

I wonder if the "detractors" in this thread would argue with Mike, like they chose to do with me!

It clearly has more uses than some would lead you to believe.

I use the 4 inch pads , not much more difficult to use compared to the 3 inch pads, plus have more power with my PC and GG6

There are some cars that have intricit curves and bumpers that the bulkiness of a full size machine with a small backing plate just won't allow you to get.

I love mine. Relatively cheap and works wonders on all those tight areas. On speed 6 it does what it needs to do. I recommend it.

A $100 for a 3 in GG???
That's why I got a Harbor Freight & 4in pad and a extension cord with 2 connections at the end...
Along with my GG 6 , I have continuous flow ;)

That's a good point but don't forget about the lifetime warrenty w/ GG, confidence comes standard.

It comes down to what ever works for you. I love mine very glad I bought it and when you do 20-30 motorcycles in spring it's a Great tool to have.
