Company History


Richard Griot, the founder of Griot's Garage, grew up in California, an epicenter for all things automotive. A car enthusiast from the start, Richard channeled his passion into creating exceptional car care products, detailing tools, and garage accessories - anything to help you "Have fun in your garage!"

Richard Griot founded Griot's Garage in 1991 with their first 16-page catalogue, mailed from their Vista, California warehouse. There are many catalogue companies and many car care companies, but what Richard had going for him was a commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Never content with "good enough", Griot's Garage develops new products every year that solve a detailing problem, make a detailing task easier or just make cars look better.

Since the inception of Griot's Garage, the company has functioned on two equally important principles. Number one: Provide products and service that enable customers to experience our slogan "Have fun in your garage". Number two: Create customers for life. Every Griot's Garage product has a lifetime guarantee. Griot's Garage used these two principles to become one of the most widely recognized brands of car care in the world.

With a growing demand for Griot's Garage products, the company headquarters, manufacturing, and warehouse/distribution moved from California to Tacoma, Washington in 1996. The manufacturing and order fulfillment location then relocated to Plainfield, Indiana in 2004, where the land and building are owned exclusively by Griot's Garage as is all the production and bottling equipment. All formulas are developed in Tacoma and Plainfield and all liquid car care is made in the U.S.A. Griot's Garage launched its website to complement its handbook in 1999.



Today the Griot's Garage Handbook reaches millions of car care enthusiasts all over the world. Man autogeek, that's great news. I'm not big into griots but its nice to see a company really expanding through this weak economy
 
This is the best of all worlds...I've used Griot's products for quite some time and have loved them...and I can say the same for Autogeek! Great products from two great car care companies working together...it doesn't get better than this for car guys.
 
We are very excited about this venture with Griots, they are great people to work with and they run their company with the same principles and customer customer that we abide by.

I have used their fine hand polish, and I think it's a great product. Safe and effective. It breaks down to become a finer polish quickly. It starts out coarse enough to remove most small scratches, and breaks down to a super fine polish.
 
I have not used the polishes yet, but plan to attack the whole Griots line in the coming days... but hopefully someone else has already tried them out....
 
I use Griot's polishes...excellent. Hand polish and machine polish in varying grades...all work great. Like the Autogeek people, Richard Griot is a car guy and understands us and again, like the Autogeek people, his products deliver.
 
This is great news. I've used Griot's Garage for over a decade, have been very pleased with the quality of their products, and their customer service is second to none. I had a wash bucket arrive cracked at the bottom, and all I had to do was tell them on the phone, and they shipped out a new one for free, and it arrived within a week. Their wheel cleaner, Speed Shine, Paint cleaning clay,their Car Wash solution are all top notch. Their interior cleaner is extremely effective.

Yea! now i dont have to order Griots undercarriage spray separately!
 
We have a little more news, we are now Griots master distributor for domestic and international wholesale. We are very excited about this, now we can bring Griots to all of our customers whether retail or wholesale, in the states or overseas!

Outstanding. Griots offers Wheel Cleaner, Speed Shine, Car Wash, and Window cleaner all in 128 ounce sizes in a package deal for $99. Will you be selling those package deals also? I'd really like to buy one, incidentally, I'd like to get Interior cleaner instead of Window cleaner.
 
They have very fine products. The hand polish works super well. I have some QD of theirs I carry in the truck.
 
This is exciting. We finally got an "undercarriage" spray. Can't wait to try many products in their line.

This is great news! I was just about to place a large order directly from Griot's, but if I can get everything from you guys at the same price I will order from Auto Geek. :awesome:
