Hello, i've been lurking here for a while and finally need to ask a question. I just purchased a Griot's 6" polisher kit and i need some polishing pads to remove mostly medium scratches and swirls. I was thinking 6.5" LC ccs orange or should i just stay with the Griots brand orange? Are the Griots pads comparable to the ccs orange? I plan on using M105 and following up with the Griots machine polish 3 that came in the kit.

Thanks!

Meg's 5" backing plate. 5.5" LC flat orange, 5.5" flat LC white, 5.5" flat LC black(if needed).

Is there a big advantage to switching over to the smaller bp?

In my personal experience I have achieved the same results using 6.5" pads versus using 5.5" low-profile pads. The 5.5" pads just took longer to cover the car.

The new DA machines are all powerful enough to easily rotate 6.5" pads, so using smaller pads makes no sense to me unless you're working on a surface that the 6.5" pads are too large for.

Yes, it fits the smaller pads to a T

The backing plate that comes with the Griot's polisher is too large and the edges will stick out past the edges of the 5.5" foam pads.

If you're going to use 5.5" foam pads you want a slightly undersized backing plate.

I'm pretty sure I have some pictures in these articles...

Hi Mike, thanks for the welcome! I honestly don't remember how i found AG originally. I lurked for a couple years before even becoming a member. I will be working mostly on my motorcycles and maybe my 2010 VW if i get some kind of blem on the paint. Knock on wood, it's still pristine.:xyxthumbs:
