Griots polisher broke

It’s better than buying a new polisher. I’m fine with it the polisher is closer to 10 years old. I’m a hobbyist I use it a few times a year on personal vehicles.

Just glad I’m not buying a new polisher.

Lifetime warranty is a lifetime warranty. This is not a lifetime warranty IMO.

I understand having to pay shipping but not the extra.

Perhaps Griots warranty isn’t as great as people think it is.

I get your point....but to completely upgrade a seven year old machine for approximately 50.00 (including shipping) still sounds pretty darn good to me. I have a four year old GG6, and if they let me upgrade it for 50.00 I'd be all over it

That sucks. Every brand will have a dud here or there, but at least with Griot's it won't cost you an arm & a leg to get the entire unit replaced. In fact, it'll be free.

And, you might even get a GG9 instead of the GG6.

I can definitely see your point but perhaps someone will not be happy with the newer design and rather the old style is what they want. Now on top of not getting a machine they want, they also have to pay for a design they don’t want.
I feel if it is a true lifetime warranty, you shouldn’t have to pay for an upgraded machine that you may not want. Again I’m ok with shipping fees.

What happened to the old machines that got traded in. Perhaps they should rebuild those and offer them as an even exchange with the option to upgrade a defective machine for a fee.

I bet that could be done but the OP probably opted for the upgrade for a fee. Griot's must have a ton of GG6 that have been repaired/refurbished from all the trade-ins and previous warranty replacements.

I think it varies based on how old (the generation) your old tool is. If it's the latest of the GG6 then I think there's no difference for them to send a G9. When it's an older tool they charge a bit.

I know everyone would like a free upgrade but 7 years after buying his first tool he's getting a much better tool for about 1/3 of the cost of a new one. I'd say that's a good deal. If he said he doesn't want to pay I think he'd get a refurb GG6 for no extra money.

I can understand that to a point, and your comments do make logical sense.

Still, I think one needs to "read the fine print", which I've not seen Griots make any such mention of. Perhaps such information has been updated, I have no idea as I don't follow Griots Garage that closely.

I can imagine though that there will be those who will feel slighted and unfairly treated when a unit fails. Is it a customer's fault that newer units came to market I never read such in regards to their warrantee.

Since I never personally dealt with Griots in such a matter, I'm not sure what options are available in the instance of a warrantee repair?
Is there such a thing as a re-furbed GG6, or whatever model that has failed and thus is exchanged for free? I'm getting the impression no.
