Hello All,

The wife got me a wonderful Griot's kit with a ROP for Father's Day!!!!!!! I'll be breaking it out this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to get my abused 2001 Black 325i corrected.
thanks.

Congrats and welcome. Hope you got 5.5" pads.

Why 5.5 pads instead of Griots 6"?

5.5" are generally easier to use, can get into smaller areas, and correct better. Though, with the GGROP, you can use 6.5" pads no problem. Personally, I still use 5.5" pads just because I like the control of them and ease of use.

I just got my GG polisher last weekend and I love it. I just got the 6" orange polishing and red wax pad though. What are some better polishing pads to use because the orange pad doesn't seem like it cuts very much even with meguiars ultimate compound.

I like the Hydrotech pads. It depends on how MUCH cut you really need. You can use some Lake Country Foam Wool pads for deep stuff, as well as Surbuf pads. Those are for pretty deep scratches. I haven't found anything on my cars that a Lake Country Cyan Hydrotech 5.5" pad couldn't take care of, but I'm also using Meguiar's M105.

Thanks all. This will be my first time at detailing with tools other than a sponge and a bucket!!!! I got the GGROP kit with the red and orange pads and some other GG products. My plan is to use what I got to get a feel for what can be done and to start to learn what I can do. I am really, really excited to get started.

Unfortunately, I don't have a garage and it is HOT. I will be doing this early in morning to beat the heat.

Let the good times begin!!!!!
