Griots VS Adams Polishes // AND SPEED SHINE QUESTION

Any recommendations for a first time orbital user?
Should I go with the 5" conversion kit?
Do I apply pressure or just let the machine work?
Any special polish you prefer?

Also i think the gallon of BOS is the best way to go!

Yep, get the 5" backing plate (it's more effective for correction work) and also the 3" HD backing plate if you'd like (for added versatility). Pressure is dependent on the task at hand (compound vs polish vs wax/sealer) and pad selection, among several other variables (that's probably a whole 'nother thread). The GG6 is a fantastic machine.

You might want to look into all in one's (AIO's) if you're just newly getting into this as a hobby (Clean, polish, and seal all in one step)?

Speed shine is a high lubricity product. Works great for me as a drying aid. It's often touted that it "leaves nothing behind". I gotta think it leaves -something- behind, as it truly does leave paint shinier than before you used it. As for that -something- affecting water behavior, I've not noticed much in that regard. If you're looking for something that "beads", or has some longevity, sure there are better options. That said, Speed Shine is superb at doing what it's intended to do (light dust removal, adding a little shine, or as a clay-lube). The off-label use as a drying aid just kinda helps your towel glide across the paint (helping to avoid swirls) and adds a little shine at the same time.

Very cool, makes sense!

Ok sounds good, thanks for the info!

Wanted to update my past reviews...i have now sold my gallon of speed shine and BOS detailers. I now own 3 gallons of Adams Detail spray. I have a brand new Black Chevy Tahoe, and the Griots sprays, were constantly streaking for me, and Im not sure why. Adams works great without streaks, smells good, and Adams has top notch customer service. I highly recommend them!

I have read a lot of reviews on all products mentioned here, and while I never really read anything negative about any of them, I seem to read more and more reviews of the Adams detail spray being the best a lot of people have ever used. Just what I've seen and my 2 cents.
